Four realms, spanning a long timeline where humans and other races interact with the world around them.

The Great Shadow created his own realm to inhabit, and then created his four children. At first, they paired off by the genders they chose for themselves. Soon, however, they formed morals and opinions, and fought viciously with the one they had chosen to be by their side. The pairings changed, placing Pink with Green and Purple with Red. They diverged, creating their own realms where they could live in peace with themselves. The Pink and Green Shadows created Heaven, and the angels that inhabit it. The Red and Purple Shadows created Hell, and the demons that reside there. Soon, the Green and Red Shadows grew restless, worrying the Pink and Purple Shadows. They, unlike their counterparts, still got along occasionally after the battle was over. They went to the Great Shadow with their concerns. He listened, and promised to something about it. He created a new realm called Earth, linking it to two beings that would keep it thriving even if it fell to being simply the battleground of the Colored Shadows. He sent them to Earth, and populated it with various small races, lacing magic through the veins of the world. Soon, though, the two beings he had linked it to created their own thriving race, humans, which quickly spread and became predominant, with other races preferring solitude and disappearing to mythology and lore. Among these are the Wilds, and the Umsaka. Presenting the realm to the Pink and Purple Shadows, they came up with the same idea the Great Shadow has about tying it to specific beings so it will not fail. They took humans, the one non-magical race, and bestowed several girls and boys with elemental powers, teaching them control and their role as not protectors, but sustainers of their element. They banned the Brothers and Sisters from meeting lest they see each other as backups, and do not take their duty seriously enough.
Then, they presented Earth to the Green and Red Shadows, and tied the elemental powers of the Sisters and Brothers to them, to keep their own powers low and in check. Magic is bestowed through a Shadow, but can be hereditary and will skip several generations before manifesting. The powers that result through this can be ridiculously specific, such as repelling water. However, at the very start they are always elemental, if originating from humans. Powers passed down from other races are usually tied into the elements, but will have other nuances and small advantages or disadvantages through the evolution of the passed-down magic.

Cyborgs exist in the future, as do hyper sleep tanks, but it takes a long time for that to develop. Mostly follows real technology.

Same physics apply. Magic can be released in the form of pure energy, which moves like a shockwave and interacts like a very painful, powerful trampoline.

All one timeline; all one author. It spans from medieval times to the end of the world. There are currently fourteen books.

Wilds are the opposite of Cities- they thrive in the wild, let nature provide, and stay in small communities.

The demons in this world have human characteristics, with the addition of pink-red fleshy wings. At the top, they curve in a hill, then turn back up at the tip. The bottom of the wing curves smoothly up until it meets the tip. Their magic is red. There are two types of demons, with multiple subclasses. The two main types are Original Demons and Lower-Class Demons, who are people that died and then became demons over time.

Angels are the same as demons, except for their wings and their magic. Angel wings are shaped the same as demon wings, but are covered in white feathers. Their magic is green. Original Angels are much nicer to Lower-Class Angels than Original Demons are to Lower-Class Demons, as well.

The Great Shadow has navy blue magic, the purest magic. He created the Green and Pink Shadows, as well as the Red and Purple Shadows, who rule over Heaven and Hell, respectively.

Humans can have magic, but only if they are of the descent of one of the other races, which all have magic.

Celestials are the result of descendants of Brothers and Sisters with the elements of Light, Nature, and a few others interbreeding so many times the magic manifested and spread, eventually creating a race that looks human but has a very distinctive type of magic.

Umsaka are elemental creatures created before humans as a type of tryout race, and only have four elements. There are four tribes, accordingly, one for each type of Umsaka. Umlilo, the fire tribe, Amanzi, the water tribe, Umhlaba, the earth tribe, and Umoya, the air tribe. When they breed with humans, the offspring are referred to as Yingxenye. The Umsaka portion of these descendants is usually bred out with time, but until then, all offspring with Umsaka traits are referred to as Yinxenye.

Cities are the opposite of Wilds- they thrive in urban environments, constantly build things, and are immensely social.
