A Fable of Dawn
The continent in which the main series takes place has a long history of war and conflict. It was first known as Aeltyr, when the Angyn and the First Men ruled. Then Varkhius Crowlithe, and his PMC, the Dawnslight Company, arrived on the shores of Aeltyr. They killed or enslaved virtually all of the First Men, and killed off the Angyn, in an event known as the Aeltyrian Genocide. Due to the importance of fighting in this society, many technological advancements have been made in military R&D, leading to highly advanced weaponry and defense. However, this advancement has not left much room for advancements in everyday life. The average Varkhian commoner tends to lead a simple life, with little hope of social advancement. Joining the military or the church are the ways most commoners may seek advancement. In most of the land, the one with the biggest gun is right. Part of the consequences of this are a large military force, and a heavy religious focus on Coercitus, The Enforcer.
