Description

A group of superheroes that are bad at superheroing and actual competent villains that don't understand how they keep losing.

Genre

Sci-fi

book

History

Origin

Doppelgängers but better and more fleshed out.

The original Doppelgängers story was a trainwreck, so when that one was rebooted and I didn't fix many of the main issues, I knew I just needed to overhaul the characters & their arcs. I cut a lot of the excess characters that I didn't do anything with, I gave some of the characters better arcs, pretty much everyone is queer now, and it's a lot more interesting to write.

Notes

Notes

This has been through way too many overhauls, but here's the general gist.

  • Madeline & Xavier decided to screw with the world just for fun and create a supervillain team. Simon & Sarah create the League to combat them. This turns into a back and forth dynamic between the teams, where if Simon adds a new member, Madeline immediately finds someone to match them. This sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
    - Simon/Madeline, Sarah/Samantha, Chloe/Julianna, CJ/Ava, Peter/Logan, Lucas/Xavier, Dean/Jason, and Henry/George are the parallels that work well. They each have what the other doesn't and they're good mirror images.
    - Marie-Kate/Payton and Jack/James don't work well because they have too much in common. (This is mostly the reason why I killed MK and Jack.)

  • Relationships are a bit of a mess and they never work in reverse.
    - Simon, CJ, Dean, and Henry are all dating. There are some who are closer than others, but they're all relatively equal. (Madeline, Ava, Jason, and George would go down in flames.)
    - Sarah and Chloe are dating and they end up having two kids together: Aster and Olivia. (Samantha would kill Julianna the second they were alone together.)
    - Marie-Kate, Peter, and Jack always had a sort of love triangle going on. Peter and MK dated first, then after breaking up, Peter got with Jack. Jack then cheated on Peter with MK. They should have just all dated each other & call it a day. (Payton, Logan, and James would also crash and burn.)
    - Madeline is currently puppeting Peter, so they're not technically dating, but they are together. (Simon and Logan would not end well, but they are very good friends.)
    - Payton and Jason have been dating since he joined the team and they end up having a daughter together: Fiona. (Marie-Kate and Dean would be extremely toxic and he wouldn't have been sad to see her go.)
    - Ava and James have been together for a while now and they're probably the healthiest relationship in the Legion. (CJ and Jack would have killed each other immediately.)
    - Faith and Becky are definitely an unlikely couple but they do bring out the best in each other, and they don't have League counterparts!

Growing up with a lot of superhero cartoons and a strange obsession with having superpowers.
