The Everlasting War

Several thousand years ago, two species known as the Necrotzen and the Kleiname began the Everlasting War, where they would continue to strife until "a winner has prevailed". The war began long ago. The Kleiname believed that the Necrotzen were the light of dying stars falling from the sky, and attacked them out of fear. In turn, the Necrotzen believed the Kleiname to be demons that cannot wield magic because their souls are too small and pitiful, and attacked out of defense.

The Necrozen are tall, bipedal dark beings thought to be as old as magic itself. They were created by the Black Spiral, a huge cesspool of sentient magical energy, as a way to create an entire creature devoted to its craft that could bear to carry such massive amounts of energy. The magic infused within Necrotzen is biological to an extent and allows them to wield and perfect its craft effortlessly. There is a specific amount of Necrotzen biological makeup that is completely unaffected by magic as a way to interact with the physical environment.

The Kleiname are a species of bipedal dragon-like creatures that have a high resistance to magic and rely solely on brute strength. This does not mean they are ruthless and unintelligent as they have created advanced strategies and have driven Necrotzen to retreat from battle. They all act under their Queen, the authoritative figure at the center of the Kleiname. Although they are devoted and loyal to their Queen, they have the ability to think on their own and create separate divisions of power. This

It would seem that their quarrel was eternal, until the day a wise yet foolish witch spoke out against the violence. She advocated a treaty of peace to be held between the Necrotzen and the Klainame to progress their societies in the absence of war. Every single being that heard this believed it to be absurd and irrational and would have kept up their fighting; however, they had underestimated her great power, and she struck an abnormal fear in all of them and forced them lay down their weapons and succumb to peace. It is truly the strangest way to begin an era of peace, but that is how it started. Blood was not shed between the two species for decades, until a great, terrifying, malicious evil awoke in the Necrotzen, leading to the genocide that nearly ended their entire species.

This event caused the Kleiname to plan a counter attack against their foe. With their dwindled numbers and weakened will, victory was surely in their grasp. But their current Queen had declined this plan. Not because she had believed in the peace, but because a certain, old, Necrotzen gave her a reason why they cannot.

Today, not much happens. The two species do their best not to interact with each other, in the mocking example of peace that had been elected. The Kleiname still scowl and spit at the Necrotzen, for they themselves do not know if they are the lights of dying stars. The Necrotzen still insult and snap at the Kleiname, as they too do not know if they are demons. Despite it all, this strained pseudo-peace is still held up today. And within that peace is the hybrid, his swordsman, the witch, the alchemist, and the fighter.

Technology

Everyone is mostly self reliant with a touch of magic in the mix.

Laws of Physics

Magic dictates the natural order of their world.

Magic System

Foundational Magic: its quite literally the basic construction of magic that makes up a Necrotzen’s biology. It’s the key magic that allows a Necrotzen to exist on their plane of reality. Each cell in their body is made of Foundational Magic. There is a specific portion of Necrotzen that is completely natural and unaltered by magic. It allows them to interact with the natural world.

The Four Affinities: Basic elemental magic. Includes Fire, Water, Earth, Wind. Self explanatory. Each one has an extension that allows more capabilities of magic (Fire allows access to Lava; Water allows access to Ice; Earth to plants etc) Necrotzen may only show proficiency in one or two affinities. Showing any more than two would be an anomalous circumstance.

Familiar Magic: Animals tbc

Summoning Magic: Spirits tbc

Rehtea: Powers of manipulation, invisibility, levitation, and teleportation. Very difficult to master. It is the alteration of the natural world around someone and manipulating it to your advantage. Vincent is a natural protégé at it.

Alchemy: The most difficult kind of magic. Takes years to master. The act of taking on object and transmutating it into another object. Misuse may lead to eternal mutation, insanity, or in most merciful cases, death. Elizabeth had altered her use of it by making it her crutch for her lacking magic potential at the cost of her health. Still in development.

Wild Magic: The most dangerous kind of magic to wield. Emotions influence Necrotzen magic to a large degree. Wild Magic is when a Necrotzen cannot influence magic by choice, only by emotion. This leads to any Necrotzen suffering from Wild Magic to die as children most of the time. Jessebelle is a special exception.

Vita Magic: Performed by Vita Mages (Medics). Vita Magic is an interesting case where healing is dangerous to a degree. In order to heal another person, the medic must give a part of themselves to the injured person. How much damage the healer takes is dependent partially on the severity of the wound and on their own magical prowess. For example, Hecate, a very powerful and gifted witch, can easily heal any kind of wound and receive only a harsh bruise or a broken arm in return. Elizabeth, however, would kill herself if she tried to heal the broken bone of an adult (she can heal children's broken bones, but that already almost kills her.)

Curses: The most dangerous kind of magic ever. Curses are spoken incantations specifically created to cause harm, injury, misfortune, suffering, but never death on another person. Curses are meant to be sung and heard, meaning that singing is actually dangerous to the Necrotzen world as a whole. (This is substituted by Whistling instead) The magic in their bodies automatically react to the song and will cause horrific deformations and mutations on their skin and organs. Curses with a specific set of effects will be dangerous not only to the victim but to the user. The user will most likely never be able to speak again as their vocal cords would melt when they start singing.

Organizations

Primary

Order of the Zenith

Largest of the three and deals with magic as a whole including alchemy, Wild Magic, and even Curses (But not in depth)

Secondary

The Apex Syndicate

The organization concerned with the whole of Necrotzen including magic, culture, and history. The thing is, they are the most critical of the Kleiname and would throw hands ON SIGHT with any that enter their peripheral vision.

Tertiary

The Oblivions Summit

The smallest organization of the three and the one that deals with the history and mystery of magic. A lot of information of the past is gone and they desire to reclaim it through investigating a specific area that is cursed by a powerful witch who had died long ago. They have tried many times to bypass the Curse, but its powerful enough to destroy whatever anti-magic attempts they've made.
Lethe was once it's leader, but was replaced after their accident.

Notes

Notes

VERY IMPORTANT: There's an artificially created species called Guardians. They were created by a wise, old witch (specifically the one who wanted peace in the history panel) and were tasked with protecting the different towns that Necrotzen inhabited. There were 14 planned at the beginning, but only 13 were created. As of the present day, only six remain. They all are excruciatingly powerful beings with unimaginable power. They basically run on a special kind of magic everyone is familiar with: love. If the town they are protecting loves them and the town, they are at their peak strength and are dutiful protectors.

Necrotzen are the main species of focus. It's crazy, kinda stupid, and I made this story with no coherent plot in sight so this bad boy is driving itself off a cliff at Mach 9 speed. Vroom vroom y'all.
Also they're fun to roleplay so I usually use them for that.
