Does anyone here write music or lyrics?

I write lyrics from time to time, mostly snippets or poems that I've set to rhythm

Definitely. I'm having trouble with making lyrics flow together nicely. I usually only write freestyle poetry because I like to use the exact words that I want to describe something. I don't like changing them to make words flow together, I feel like it changes the meaning of the song, and sometimes makes the lyric sound basic and ridiculous.
