A German immigrant in 1776, Elise follows her hessian father to America when he goes to fight in the revolutionary war in the side of the British. While at home, Elise learns about the American cause and the spirit behind the revolution. She disguises herself as a man, renaming herself “Èlie” to join in the war on the opposite side of the war as her father. At the camp she makes a good amount of friends and she begins to finally feel comfortable (well, as comfortable as one can be in Valley Forge). But will anyone find out her real identity?

Elise stepped up to the camp entrance with a small bag of belongings in hand. She found the men’s clothing a lot more comfortable—and freeing—as opposed to the restrictive corsets and gowns the ladies were meant to wear. She rolled back her shoulders in the suit (which was a tad too big around her shoulders), straightened her tricorn hat and strutted forward to her assigned tent.
In her other hand she clutched the papers of acceptance into the army addressed to the name Élie Alter. This was going to be fine, everything was just fine.

Élie shifted uncomfortably in the ill-fitted suit, standing tall with feigned confidence, “Ah, Hallo, Sir. I assume zis is vhere I’m supposed to be, at least I vas told.” Luckily the heavy accent might suffocate the feminine undertone. Hopefully.
