Babe has been playing hockey all her life, even after the accident that made her mom ban the sport. It's hard, playing in secret, but she makes it work.

And then her family packs up and moves from Brooklyn to Maine. She's stuck at a new school, without the sport that's been her escape all her life. But after finding out she knows the coach of the team, an all boys team, she gets the chance to try out and makes it. A few guys on the team aren't too happy about it, but she pretty quickly gets accepted. Can she keep the team a secret from her family, survive high school, and figure out her majorly confusing feelings for one of her teammates?

Henry slid into his seat just in time. With a big smile at the teacher, he grabbed his book and started reading. He absentmindedly tapped his fingers, glancing up and over the room frequently.

First day at a new school, and Babe was already late. Good. She had to start early on her reputation, or it could go horribly wrong. And after moving so far from her home, her rink, and her old school, she could really use something going right.

Babe pushed open the door casually, striding into the room, and was met with stares and whispers. The teacher looked up from her desk, narrowing her eyes. "Nice of you to join us, miss…?" "Nova. Nova works just fine, thanks." Her first name was unusual, an always garnered the same damn jokes,

The sound of the door opening after class had started annoyed Henry. This was the first class, no one should be late. He looked up and over, at a girl he'd never seen before. He sighed and looked away, uninterested. The teacher would fake interest, but she'd be just as annoyed with the interruption as he was. He saw a lot of curiosity from his classmates, thrilled to finally see a new face. This town didn't get a lot of new faces, and when it did, everyone would know about it within 24 hours. He'd catch all the gossip about the new girl at lunch, he was sure.

"Please then, Miss Nova, have a seat." The teacher said, looking back down at her desk. She shuffled through some files, looking for anything about a new student. Once she found it, her eyebrows shot up in slight surprise.

Babe dropped into the only free seat, one next to some, admittedly cute, guy reading. She plopped her hockey-duffel turned backpack onto the ground beside her, puling out her phone to send a text to the group chat her and her brothers had made, making sure they were settling in alright.

Oh, lovely. He got to sit next to the new student. It wasn't necessarily a problem, as long as she knew what she was doing. Otherwise, he'd be asked to help, and that wasn't a strong suit of his, especially not with girls. He did notice the hockey bag, which could be good news. Maybe she was a cheerleader…

Babe was a bit disappointed that her twin brother, Rico, wasn't in her study hall, but she'd just have to put up with it. He had been ecstatic about the move, the prospect of new girls and guys to woo a total thrill. Sadly, that meant she had been the only one, with the exception of Kai, who didn't want to leave Brooklyn. She turned off her phone, leaning to the side to dig around her bag for her notebook.

Henry refocused himself on the book. Whoever this Nova was, he would deal with it after he'd caught up on the reading. He was perpetually behind in his classes because of his busy schedule, and no matter how hard he tried, he could never stay caught up. At least this year, the teachers seemed more forgiving. He fidgeted slightly in the seat, trying to focus. He tapped his fingers, mentally reminding himself of all he needed to get done before practice that night.

Wonder if there's a hockey team here? Babe mused to herself as she leaned back, propping her feet up on her desk. She plugged a pair of earbuds in, listening to the audio version of the book the rest of the class was reading while she went over some lyrics. She'd have to get a job, too, meaning checking the classifieds in the newspaper was up next.

((Do we wanna skip to lunch or something? I can have her go snooping for the coach or something, and maybe Henry could be talking to him?))

He eventually gave up on the book, and turned to his homework for the next class. He knew the summary of the story anyway, and he needed to finish the homework. The teacher let them all do pretty much whatever they wanted, as long as they stayed caught up with what was going on in the story. He glanced sideways at the girl, absentmindedly wondering if she had siblings that had moved into the school.

Babe didn't follow the rest of the students to the mess hall, instead turning down a different hallway. After pulling some pimple covered kid aside, she had been directed to the school's hockey stadium, and that's where she was heading now. Her phone was tucked in the crook of her neck as she chatted with Rico, who was catching her up on what Kai, Zach, and Adrian thought about the school. All five of them were high school age, with Zach and Adrian being the other set of twins their mom had given birth to.

Henry sat across from the coach, rubbing his head. "I don't know, sir. I'm trying, but I don't know if I can keep up." The coach, an older man with the looks of an untrimmed beard.
"Henry, I don't know what to tell you. The school can only do so much." Henry sighed deeply and leaned back in the chair. They looked at each other and the coach shrugged helplessly.
