So, this is basically just an RP where my cringefail demifluid-in-denial royal heir and mildly genocidal monster half-Fae bastard prince with all the mommy and daddy issues is romanced by any character of your choosing, so long as they fit within the setting. I will describe said setting and character as well as other useful tidbits of lore below.
The Kingdom - Ilka
The Kingdom of Ilka is a harsh mountain range, where Faeries roam and terrorize the citizens of the Ilkan kingdom in shadows and wanderings too-far-off established paths. It has a history of war between nomadic groups, but all that changed about six-hundred years ago when the tribe of Go'er- the first royal lineage- established a treaty to unite the eleven tribes and establish peace between peoples. In the past ten years, Ilka has had their royal prince (Cornelius Florian of Go'er) establishing a strong military presence, of which has already amassed a large supporting within the kingdom and which has usurped reign of kingdoms of the four surrounding realms from their rulers.
Ilka is currently attempting to conquest the Nations of Xanzes, where vampires reign as the ruling theocracy and their loyal followers donate their blood to appease their living-dead god-prophets. Part of this conquest has resulted in the crown prince of Ilka calling a truce if their princess, Lady Sin-Eater (given name: Lady Anemone), marries into his family so he can ascend to the throne. Ilka has a rapidly growing sense of industry, and the Nations want in on their steel revolution. They choose to marry the princess to him, but this is purely a political marriage- the crown prince is by far too promiscuous and noncommitted to really settle. Aside from that, there are a few nations forming alliances to take down this power-mad prince and see to it that he doesn't overtake their kingdoms in his pursuit of control and ultimate vice.
Crown Prince Cornelius Florian - "Nels"
Nels is a complex case. His mother basically, through a series of unfortunate events, conceived Nels out of wedlock with a full-blooded Faerie (basically sort of a low-level cosmic horror deity) right before she married the Ilkan king (King Kestrel Cornelius). She basically went insane for a few years after that point, for spoilery plot-relevant reasons I'll get into later. Nels was born a half-Fae bastard prince, King Kestrel basically said "screw it" and raised Nels to be the heir since he wasn't sure he'd have any more children with his wife. She did end up producing a set of twin daughters and then twin sons a year and then another year after Nels was born, but by then Nels was basically expected by the whole kingdom to bear the weight of the crown so it just stuck.
Nels has a whole host of issues, his mother was pretty emotionally absent and his adoptive, kingly father was abusive in pretty much every capacity imaginable to him and his younger half-sister, Elrie. He and Elrie honestly get along quite well, and they sort of have a bond of shared trauma + are a bit traumatically dependent on each other. His other half-sister, Gloria, is pretty much subhuman in his eyes for both reasons of "Nels is pretty openly sexist and disrespectful of women (except Elrie, because complicated reasons)" and "Gloria (in Nels' opinion at least) benefitted from Nels' and Elrie's abuse from their mother in the three's youth" among other reasons, and he resents his younger brothers for being fully human and clearly favored by his mother. He has a lot of issues that explain but hardly excuse his behavior, and he is really just a hot mess. He's bisexual but finds it's easier to engage in relationships with men despite societal stigma because of A) the sexism piece and B) his fear of confronting his own gender feels.
He's thirty years old but looks not a day over twenty because of Fae blood making aging a bit quirky for him. He also is going through basically a lot of chronic health issues that come with being a hybrid, and he's also basically mental illness incarnate (I write him as having low-empathy autism, bipolar disorder, OCD and PTSD because it's hashtag relatable) so he isn't really the most stable, though he's run a very successful military campaign despite and possibly because of these problems, for basically a decade he's ruthlessly waged war on the surrounding kingdoms to subjugate their people in the name of misplaced liberation.
Aside from that, he's pretty much just a terrible person with a lot of brokenness he refuses to address. Nels is a sad wet cat left out in the rain and I love him for it.
Other Stuffs - The Tidbits Section
Ideas for a character you could use are… a knight or bodyguard assigned to Nels to protect him from assassination attempts… a personal attendant or servant… a gardener in Nels' private gardens… a concubine he's taken on from another kingdom he's overtaken to meet his more intimate needs… a prisoner of war he has a particular obsession with breaking… a mercenary sent to assassinate him… many options tbh. I could see him falling in love with a man or woman or otherwise gendered character, but honestly I think a really interesting dynamic would be him being in love with specifically a closeted trans women or transfem character to sort of force him to confront his own biases around gender and identity because I think it would be fun to see them crack their respective gender eggs together.
Nels is not a very good or nice or kind or even really forgiving person. He won't show his anger through displays of aggression without fire to back it up, he will absolutely torture and maim anyone who doesn't either submit or stand up enough to fight back meaningfully. His nickname is the Oleander Prince for how pretty on the outside, toxic and rotten on the inside he is. Oh, also, he has blue blood and albinism for Faerie and genetics reasons, the technical science explanation is hemocyanin but that's a lot of weird and specific BS, and honestly he's sort of pretty in a specifically uncanny valley if you look too closely variety of way, like a statue or painting in the wrong light.
I have a fair amount of worldbuilding here, but I am also flexible if you want to add or subtract details!! I am open to lots of ideas!!
There's just gonna be a blanket trigger warning on this RP for horror, violence, gender and sexuality based bigotry, war, and morally dark characters. I don't intend to write this in a manner where Nels becomes a good person overnight- frankly it would be very OOC for him. However, this does not at all mean I'm opposed to him changing for the better- I'd love to see that honestly!!
Smut is not expected or required, but it is an option I'm quite happy to engage in and would definitely enjoy writing… but privately, in DMs please! Also, blanket rule of 18+ for this RP. I won't and don't RP with minors, I just prefer it as a general comfort zone thing plus if we RP smut I don't wanna be exposing kids to that stuff.
