Character Chat (Anyone can join)

Ben: Hello there! [He gives the stranger in the room a short nod of greeting.] I'm Bennadan, but people call me Ben. What brings you here?

(Oh, no worries. :) I'll edit Ben's post so that he's talking to someone who hasn't introduced themselves, and then how 'bout you jump in with whichever character you had in mind.)

Ben: [He laughs.] Is this Dax a friend of yours? He sounds like quite a character. I've been told I'm rather boisterous, so we'd probably get along.

Ben: You don't sound too sure about that. [He says this with a half-smile and eyebrows raised, then shrugs.] Ah well, somehow we both ended up here - we may as well make use of the time. Do you play Sixers?

Ben: [He startles when he sees Dax and regards him suspiciously, his gaze drifting often to Dax's hands.] It's… good to meet you, Dax. If you don't mind my asking, where did you just come from?

(Ben's job is to catch users of magic, and Dax's sudden appearance struck him as potentially unnatural.)

Ben: [His wide eyes and tense shoulders betray his fright, although he tries to quell it with a tight grip on the hilt of his sword.] Uh, Robin, I don't think your 'friend' here is exactly human. [Nor is he an ethereal, he mutters to himself, with his eyes on Dax's face.]

Ben: [Dax's pop-culture reference goes completely over his head. The demon may as well be speaking Old Ajharakt for all he knows. Still, there is no evidence of magic on his hands - uh, claws - so Ben hardly has enough evidence there to apprehend him.] Well, um, unfortunately, Sixers is a two-player game so I guess that's out. But, uh, Dax, Robin said you had something to do with why he's - with why you're both here.

Ben: [Demons don't speak, he thinks, even more confused. Then his stance relaxes as he realises, This is probably a dream. No longer worried about facing off a supernatural beast, Ben has a suggestion spring to mind.] Hey, let's swap stories. What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

Ben: Okay, so for example… ?

Ben: They must have been some good cookies! Wait, so were you saying that you run a place for people without families? Which jurisdiction do you rule? [Since in Ben's culture orphans are taken care of by the nobility, he now assumes that Robin must be a member of that class.]

Ben: By jurisdiction, I mean the area under your rule. Your province. Your 'misfits' are really lucky to have you watching over them and teaching them stuff like that. I was taken in by King Oronar, and he made sure I learned how to keep myself and others safe. Have you made any of them your bodyguards?

(XD I'm aware of that, but Ben's seeing everything from his culture's perspective. :P)
