Character Discussion (open to all!)

Hello! I enjoy character creation, and would love to see yours. Tell me about the first character you ever created. Do you still use them sometimes? What is your creation process?

For me, my first "official" character was Annabelle Carver. She's an ex-assassin who abandoned her profession in order to help people. She's kind of the reluctant mom friend. She actually started as a version of me as a superhero, but gradually became her own person. I still use her a lot.

My process of creation is basically just starting off with a concept like "Spanish Vampire" and, after a course of weeks or even months, the little details kind of fall into place.

So what about you? Let's discuss it! Feel free to ask other questions.

The first oc I created was Maft. He's an alien who looks to be like a dog human hybrid who is covered in ink and has wings low on his back. he can shape to a human but he would be classified as something from the uncanny valley. He also wear sunglasses all of the time because of things in his eyes that are considered evil on his planet. He tries to be mysterious and creepy and all, but really he's just a big ball of paranoia and just wants everyone to be alright.

I do plan to use him, I want to make a book but I know it's going to have to wait a while.

I just one day thought of him. he was the first to come out of a whole little group I made. I made like 11 more and it took me months before I could figure out what to do with them. That was a while ago, in like 7th or 8th grade.

I had two characters that I created at about the same time and they were my firsts. One was a Harry Potter OC I made named Blaire Narcian. Her concept wasn’t the worst, but she was basically a nicer Draco Malfoy. She got worse once I started using her for roleplay. Her personality became watered down and dull, she lost all charisma. Around the same time I made a character named Berlin who was a Percy Jackson OC. She was way worse. Her plot line, backstory, and personality were lazy and meant to excuse her sometimes very rude behavior. I eventually dropped both of those characters but one of them came back. I’ve revamped Berlin and the characters meant to be her friends into fully developed, interesting characters. Or at least I find them interesting. She’s evolved from being my sort of edgy self insert to being a morally grey character struggling with intense real world issues and her morality. I like to think I’ve changed her for the better and made her way more interesting.

All of these are quite interesting! I remember that I enjoyed making 'edgy' characters when I was younger. I remember I had one named Lilly Wolf who was an EXTREME mary sue. Haha… I regret a lot of the things I came up with when I was younger.

My first OC was Julian, a demon that gave up his immortality for a human love interest. Though female myself, I'm pretty sure I Mary Sue'd him from the very start. I don't use him anymore, just doesn't feel right. Tried to incorporate a more developed version a few months back after years of ignoring him, but literally stopped two paragraphs in.

My first official characters were Ramule & Samule Black (i include the both since i "created" them at like, the same time lol). Their story is very intertwined, Ramule was born human to once of the three major Vampire clans…the Scotland Clan! his older brother Samule was born a vampire. Ramule and Samule became friends with some other Vampires from the other two clans (England and Japan), well after a while he fell for a girl from the Japan clan, well someone else didnt like this (another guy who had a crush on this chicky-poo) and so he ripped out Ramules heart. the girl found him and turned him into a vampire. After Ramule came to, he went to go find her and saw that she was beaten to a pulp by the other guy (he was/is psycho). so Ramule tried to help her, in short because he didnt know the rules, he accidentally killed her. The best way to describe Ramule is a "class clown". goofy and somewhat of a perv, he really struggles a lot internally. I took a Mary Sue test and he only have like…16 points out of 100 or something, so i think i did really well lol

Honestly, my creation process starts with having fun on dress up games lololol! then as i stare at them, their story unfolds right then and there. i usually think about the character and backstory for a few days and iron out all the details. but the initial creation happens super fast. Kinda like @Reblod above me.

I think I was 11 or so when I created my first original OC (I had done a knock-off Narnia thing when I was 8, but I feel like that doesn't count because my protag wasn't even really involved.).
His name was Jace Storm-something (can't remember for the life of me). He was a pretty average kid, 15 or so, training to be a knight (I was doing a lot of fantasy at that point).
I could tell ya about the plot I had him in! It's terribly cliche!

the first character I ever made actually has my username right now lmao, she's always been a big part of my life. When I first made her, I was like 9 and I drew her as a shadow manipulator and I thought it was cool so I made her a character. she was a bloodthirsty killer who only cared about her status. Her name actually came from the archangel of mysteries in a couple religions but I just looked up angel names and found one I thought was cool. Over time her appearance and character changed quite a bit, I (being the foolish 11-year old I was) eventually made her look and act like me. Today I'm struggling with making her look like someone other than myself, which is super difficult (thanks 11-year-old me :))). anyways I've actually been working on her for three years through this website and it's helped me nail her character down and put her into a story and keep her there. This website has literally helped me make all of my other characters and many more that I've been working on. so raziel basically went from being an all-powerful shadow manipulator (who could literally change people through their shadows and strangle them) to a socially awkward 27-year-old who does detective work and takes care of a kid (whose adoptive mother was murdered [Raziel helps out with the case at 16] and adoptive father committed suicide because of the murderer). I'm actually really proud of the little universe I've been able to create and I'm still adding to it and tweaking a lot of stuff based off of critiques.
