Clone Names?

So, for a character I'm working on, he is a clone (not Star Wars type), and I need help coming up with a name. here's a physical description:
Hair: Dark blond/brown, short and straight
Eyes: Light green-blue
Extra: Bar code on back of neck, along with his identifying number: C-11-1-47 (Numbers and bar codes are typical for clones)
In this world, clones are typically named after habits and what they do best, not physical features, since they are exact copies of their podmates, if not their batchmates. I know I'm doing a crap job at explaining, but I just kinda need some ideas. If you have questions, fire away!

@CatherinePrice

I think that if it's based on character traits\what they do best, then write the story and the character without a name, just use the call number and the name will appear as the character develops <3

@ElderGod-Icefire

I could do it that way, but that's actually one of the ways I connect best with my characters is by naming them, but I'm really struggling with a name for him.

Why would clones not be referred to by their numbers, since they have a barcode and all? Their habits and what they do best would only emerge after a while of observing them, and I imagine a society that creates batches of clones is not too fussed about individuality when it comes to names for clones. Wouldn’t those in charge refer to him by number?

Think about who in your story calls him by name. Is it a nickname given by one of his pod mates? ‘Brock’ because he hates broccoli, ‘Seven’ because he’s the only one with a 7 in his barcode, ‘Trip’, short for ‘Triple 1’ (again because of the barcode)? Is it a non-clone that he meets who gives him a name?

Certain of the scientists find it more comfortable to refer to the clones by names rather than numbers, and other times the names are given by their batchmates, podmates, or companions. An example would be his podmates Knife and Flip, Knife named for his tendency to use a knife, Flip for his tendency to do flips. I do know he has a name before he meets my protagonist, it's finding that name that has proven difficult. I've been thinking Chase or Hunter, both of which have to do with his training regime and the way he tackles it.

Well, I'm familiar with SW clones, so here's some things from them. Some have normal, mundane names like Cody. Some are named after their codes, like Fives (CT-555) or Nines from TFA. Slip (like Nines, he's a stormtrooper) is called Slip because he's clumsy. Echo is called Echo because he parrots the rule book. Droidbait had a habit of being downed first in simulations. Cutup makes jokes alot. More of a meta example, but Cut cut himself off from the Republic. Rex is a cool name, and it fits a cool character.

I see what you're saying, and it's cool to find another SW fan :) thank you all for the ideas!

I like the way you think! Who is the character cloned after? if there is a certain Latin prefix or root word, find the opposite of that and make that it's name. For example, if the character that was not a clone's name had pro in it, the clone's nickname could be Con.

@Yamatsu

Wait a minute, is this character a part of the Hitman series? Clone, has a barcode, last two digits are 47… This seems awfully similar, if you know what I'm saying.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Thank you all for the ideas! TJ Anderson, I really love what you came up with! And no, Yamatsu, he is not. I don't even know what the Hitman series is.

Owo??? WHats This??

I'm taking inspiration from the Danganronpa v3 game, where there is a robot called K1-BO and is called Kiibo. From the identification you gave, I got maybe Clive or Clyde?
But if we're talking the lore you've given, maybe don't be direct with it. Maybe put the trait, through a latin or other language translator and use that, or change it as you please ex. I put in "nail bite" for a nail biting habit and got "clavus mordere" and would combine them to form one name, such as Cladere or Morvus or something. Hope this helps!

That's a cool idea! I hadn't thought about using other languages for his name, and I really like it. Even if I don't use it for him, maybe for one of his batchmates it would be a cool idea!

Glad to know it helped! :)
