Does this feel right?

In my world there are four types of humans, do you think they are accurate? Should I stick to the book or define these types of people in my own ways?

There are four types of humans in this world,

• Mages
  Humans with magical abilities that use them for studies, practical uses, and other reasons.
  Generally associated with miracles and not much is known about them
  Most religions are based around mage-like deities
  -Sorcerers
  Humans who do not have magical abilities. They study the world’s natural elements.
  They think of magic as unreliable for building long term civilizations, so they try to match magic’s doings using non magical substances
  Their work tends to be classified as science
• Witches
  A mix between mages and sorcerers
  They do both a sorcerer’s work and a mage’s
  Focus mainly on potions
  Considered magical doctors by most of the world
  -True humans
  No magical abilities, they can become some types of witches or sorcerers, but usually don’t.

I agree! It's very interesting, though it's hard to get a clear picture with this limited information. If you want to, use this, go ahead! (I looove when authors re-define different fantasy elements!)

I'd do a little more worldbuilding before I'd use them, though. I find it hard to use concepts that I don't have a clear picture of. If you do already, great! I do have a few questions I think might help flesh out these groups, if you're interested.

So, define the magic for me - why do witches do both mage and sorcerer crafts? Do different types of humans have stereotypes or prejudices against the other type (eg. sorcerers hating mages, mages hating sorcerers, name-calling)? Does all the magic in this world come from the same place? What's the difference between a normal human and a sorcerer? How does religion tie into magic? Why are these considered "different types of humans" if some of them can use the practices of the other types of humans? Are they separated? If so, why? How are these different types accepted in society?

Alternative suggestion: Instead of 'witches', which is gendered (unless that's one of the things you want to redefine), maybe go with 'alchemists' who are kind of famous for potions and transforming things and the study of the world?
