Foster Care System

My main character Asha is a foster kid (not anymore since she's 18) and she is one of the kids who were bounced around from one foster to another. Since she was five. She had one foster parent(s) she loved dearly and was going to stay with her but she got really sick and could stay with her any longer. So Asha continuously got moved from one place to another.

But I'm not sure how she got put in foster care, she knows her parents and they never picked her up from school so that's why she's in foster. I'm just not sure why they would leave their daughter never come for her.

Maybe they don't want her/ can't afford to have her in their home.

@Celestial-B her parents didn't know how to deal with her (she's a five year old with aspergers)

Maybe her parents have amnesia. There could be like a really good plot twist and they come looking for her and explain everything to her
