It's because if JKR allowed a Hufflepuff to do anything, the story wouldn't have worked because we have too much common sense, hence Cedric dying before he could usurp Harry

I actually have a confession to make.
I took a bootleg Pottermore quiz and got Hufflepuff, but when I took the official quiz on Pottermore, I got Ravenclaw. But by then I became so enamored with being a Hufflepuff that I pretended that all of that over stuff didn't happen. Please accept me, brothers and sisters, a humble hat-stall who chose the road less traveled.

I've gotten Gryffindor on some bootleg quizzes but on the official one I got Hufflepuff. And don't worry @AmmyPajammy we will still accept you. We accept everyone no matter who they are
