I'm in the mood for another apocalypse roleplay... (CLOSED for now, welcome to stalk)

Yknow, just because all the apocalyptic rps I join or make have a habit of dying.
But it's a favorite genre of mine, so here we go again!
Usually I opt for zombie apocalypse settings, but I am also completely open to other suggestions. Maybe another plague, a war, nuclear fallout, etc. We'll determine that when we get there.
I think I'm going to leave this pretty open to people joining or leaving at any time. However, please ask to join. I reserve the right to ask for a writing sample/link to an rp you're in, and I reserve the right to say no if our styles don't work together.
Just a few general rules:

• Avoid one-liners. They're appropriate on occasion if there's enough information to respond to.
• No OP characters
• Be nice to other RPers. Leave the conflict in the story. Respect other people's triggers.
• Take explicit sexual content to PMs. I don't mind implying things, but I generally prefer not to write that kind of stuff explicitly.
• Feel free to ask about plot points you want to incorporate, either in this chat, or in pms (we can also create an ooc pm for the whole group if anyone wants)
• Swearing is a free-for-all.
• Given the type of story this is, you can have up to 3 characters at a time, kill your own characters off as you please. (You can add a 4th character technically if one is about to die.) Because of this, please write in the third person. Also no killing others' characters without their permission.

And here is some information about zombies and the virus:

• Zombies in this universe tend to be a bit faster- pretty close to human speed, but it varies. They are capable of climbing and doing most range of human motion.
• Zombies hate daylight because it's hard on their eyes and makes it difficult to hunt, but that's not to say they won't chase someone a little bit out of a building or dark place to get their hands on them. Otherwise, they usually hunt at night.
• Usually the best way to kill zombies is to damage their brains. They can't feel pain properly, so it's best to take them down by destroying the control center for their body.
• The virus is spread through some bodily fluids. Being bitten will spread it, and is the main route that people experience
• The virus acts fast, but the transformation is not immediate and varies from person to person:
  1. Days 1-3: The person will start having flu-like symptoms- fever, chills, body aches- it can be hard to distinguish from other normal sickness in this stage.
  2. Days 4-8: The person starts undergoing changes from the inside out. They may experience intense joint pain and stiffness, sensitivity to light, necrosis, and coughing up blood.
  3. Days 9-10: Transformation is underway. The person undergoes changes in personality, and may act more aggressive. By now, skin has usually taken on an ashen color. They are usually still able to speak at this phase, but may have trouble forming coherent thoughts and sentences.

Yes, that's perfectly fine. All ages of characters are welcome, and like I mentioned in the original post, you guys are allowed more than one if you want.

Do either of you have a preference for what kind of apocalypse we're dealing with?

Okay! If no one really has an opinion, we can always just do zombie apocalypse. And of course, I'll clarify how the zombie virus works if that's what we decide on.

Personality: A little cold and gruff at first, can come off as sarcastic and rude, but he's really just a bit anxious when meeting new people. Once shown kindness, he is quick to warm up. He is a very practical person and likes to think through options before making decisions, but he is not overly analytical and believes gut instincts have a lot of value. He is an introvert and has a good amount of creativity and strategy bouncing around in his head. That said, he occasionally has his head in the clouds and misses things. He prefers to make plans before taking action, but is capable of making on-the-fly decisions if absolutely necessary. He's a lot tougher than he seems. Sometimes he gets unexpected rushes out of fighting and bloodshed. This concerns him.
Appearance: Long, straight black hair, usually tied back into a low bun, Thin and angular face shape, well-defined jaw, narrow upturned dark brown eyes, well-groomed eyebrows, very clean-shaven and clearly taken care of, 5'10, light tan complexion with cooler undertones, lean and fit
Background: He was surprisingly quick to abandon his family when everything happened. He opted to try protecting his friends instead, but eventually, the group split and dwindled, and here he is, the last one left. He had to mercy-kill the person he was in love with.
Outfits: he usually wears slimmer-fitting pants and raglan tees, with a preference for a darker color palette. He has a plain black sweatshirt that he uses when it's colder
Hobbies/talents: He's an artist, carries around a little sketchbook. He's a proficient fighter and has a knack for strategy.
Weaknesses: Quick to blame himself, sometimes has trouble forming deep, meaningful relationships with others
Gear/weapons: A switchblade, a revolver and ammo pouch, and a fully-stocked med kit

Name/any nicknames: Beckett Randall, usually goes by Beck
Age: Late 18/early 19
Gender/pronouns: Male, he/him
Sexuality: Asexual
Personality: Beck is pretty closed off, usually focusing on talking about any subject besides himself. Not a big fan of small talk, he enjoys discussing things that matter. He tends to get a bit existential over things that most don't as well. Spends a lot of time alone. Struggles with feeling that he's both wise beyond his years yet also fully unprepared for adult life. He feels things very deeply, and therefore decides to try to feel nothing at all. Generally has a sense of unease to him, even when he's around people he trusts, an almost palpable tenseness. He tends to feel very lost, and that he doesn't have a path in life. He really doesn't know what to do. He's actually got a pretty decent sense of humor and cracks jokes a lot, but they always have a sense of unease to them as well, or are very esoteric literary references. God-awful at carrying on relationships. He's dealing with a lot of grief and trauma and suppresses it as to avoid confronting it head-on. Surprisingly good with kids; he understands what it's like to be talked down to and treated like you're just a dumb kid and so he tries not to do that to others. Very touch-adverse and a bit jumpy.
Appearance: Olive-tan skin with freckles. Average height and weight with a slender build, not much muscle mass. Dark brown eyes with long lashes. Dark brown hair, thick and wavy and usually poking out from under his battered grey hat, which he's rarely seen without. Often has a contemplative expression.
Background (doesn't have to be super in-depth): Born and raised in [wherever this takes place], Beckett and his younger sister Cora had a fairly normal life. Their mother died when Cora was only six, and so Beckett more or less helped to raise her. They're pretty close for siblings, and have always been. Beckett in particular feels as though his father failed the two of them by becoming more distant after their mother's death. His sister Cora died in [whatever apocalypse we go with], as did a lot of his family.
Outfits: Battered shoes, blue jeans, and a grey t-shirt, plus a red hoodie and one of those fleecy jean jackets. He also usually wears a grey knit hat.
Hobbies/talents: Used to play the drums and the guitar (not very well), reads a lot, going for walks and such in nature
Weaknesses: Very anti-authority to a point where it can endanger him, jumpy, a bit paranoid. While not reckless, he doesn't always consider the followthrough of his actions, especially when it comes to
Gear/weapons: A backpack with a first aid kit, extra clothes, rations and such, etc. (like those backpacks that us Midwestern people keep in case there's a tornado); a knife.
Open to shipping?: Nah
Other: He's travelling with his cousin Eloise. I'm not great with writing kids so uh…we'll see how that goes lol

Also there's an aspect of his backstory that would require a trigger warning but it doesn't need to be brought up directly in the roleplay if people are uncomfortable with it.

(I personally have no triggers, that's gonna depend on everyone else. Also he looks good! Honestly the characters so far look like they're gonna have a good dynamic and I'm excited!)
