My characters are a 16-year-old boy and girl in the 20's whose ex-military father works as a barkeep at a burlesque house.

I don't know the twin's personalities so I based most of the names off what someone in the military might name their kids or popular 1920s names. Some of these explanations are a little far fetched, but hopefully they help!

For the girl:
Constance/Connie (meaning constant, being constantly aware of your surroundings is a good military skill)
Jo/Josephine (popular name in 1920s)
Roza (Roza Shanina was the Soviet sniper during the Second World War. She is accredited with 54 target hits.)
March (soldiers march in formation)
Florence (Florence is the namesake of the first female lieutenant colonel in the United States Army. This Latin name means ‘prosperous.’)
Marie (Marie, as in Marie Marvingt was the first female office to fly during a war.)
Marjorie (popular name in 1920s)
Gloria (popular name in 1920s)

For the boy:
Frank (Popular name in 1920s
Bruce (macho military sounding)
Harold (a Scandinavian military baby boy name, meaning ‘army ruler.’)
Nathan (Nathan Hal was a Revolutionary War Hero best known for his quote- “I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”)
Flint (macho military sounding)
Kane (meaning of Kane is ‘fighter’ and in French, it means ‘field of combat.’)
Warren (Popular name in 1920s)

There are also plenty of twin name generators and 1920s name generators on the internet that you can look up, including ones which will generate names that are mirrored. e.g, Aiphos - Sophia, Mara - Aram, Allen - Nella
