I posted on here not too long ago with my murder mystery plot and now would like your opinion on something.
A character dies of natural causes but something about it has to look suspicious because the other characters eventually start to wonder if it's a murder. One character in particular thinks that they are responsible for the death and that they are now a murderer. I have a few ideas of my own but this community hasn't let me down yet so if you have any ideas that I may not have thought of, please share them!

Show signs of struggles? That's all I can think of

maybe the character was poisoned? I mean, it looked like they were poisoned, because they said earlier that their stomach hurts or the body was found next to some kind of food. but actually they died of a heart attack or some other thing. and the person who thinks that they're the murderer may blame themselves because they gave the other a weird snack or poured something into their drink as a prank. that's all I can think of.

  • What if someone went through their search history on their computer and found something that seemed a little suspicious that made it seemed like they thought someone was stalking them or something?
  • This was kind of inspired by last weeks episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved, but maybe they could have a book open to a page where someone is getting murdered and your characters misinterpret this as a message that your dead character was murdered.

That's all I got for now, but if I come up with some more ideas I'll let you know. It might help having a little more information though.

Thank you all so much for the ideas! and @tomat thank you! I certainly will keep writing and your idea is fabulous :)

A broken lock on a door or window might do the trick. Let's say this character was meaning to fix his door but didn't, this would point towards forced entry and murder.
