One-on-One for a newbie?

I joined literally 2 hours ago, and wanna see what rolplaying is all about! Most of the things in the Beginners Lounge haven’t been updated recently, so I though I’d post here to find someone.

First off
What are some general things I should know?

1. always reply with something other people can respond to
2. dont be the guy that hates on people as though they are their characters
3. try not to make mary/gary sue characters. mix things up, dont make all your chara's straight and white

What does bump mean, and what do you do to talk outside of the role play?

if a server has been dead a bit, you can 'bump' it, to see if any one is still there.
((i do this, a habit i picked up from another rp site, but a lot of people (do this)
