Archer paid for his coffee and chocolate croissant, thanking the cashier before turning to find a table. Each one was occupied, and even the tables outside were taken up. With another glance around the room, he spotted a young woman sitting alone, clutching her cup of coffee in both hands. Maybe she would let him sit with her…

"Excusez-moi, Madam," he said in greeting when he had reached her table. "Would you mind if I joined you? It seems to be quite busy today, and every other table is taken up."

(I already like this, oh gosh…)

"Thank you," Archer said as he set his food and coffee on the table. He sat down, then stuck his hand out to the girl across from him. "My name is Archer Blanc. Pleasure to meet you, madam."

Archer drew his hand back and took a sip of his coffee. No sugar, no creamer, just straight, black coffee. He smiled as it warmed his insides, sending heat through his body from his head to his toes.

"You are American, no?" he asked, leaning back in his chair. He dipped his croissant into his coffee, then took a bite of it.

"Ah. I was born and raised here," Archer explained. "I don't believe I've ever seen you around before, though."

(I mean, I was thinking she'd just be on, like, a trip to France or something, but that's cool, too.
Yeah, just a little cafe on the edge of the city.)

Archer smiled warmly. "That's a lovely place to live. I actually live in (Googles cities in France…) Ivry-sur-Seine, about eight kilometers from here. I've got a small appartement near the centre of the city."

(It took me forever to find a city close enough that it wasn't, like, an hour or more away from Paris…)
