I am a new writer and I wanted to create a story similar to Anne of Green Gables because it’s my favourite book of all time. But I don’t want it too be the same and I can’t think of a way to change it up. Please help, even short ideas are appreciated. Thank you so much!

Try a simple quest to find something or someone. If you have friends that play table top RPGs, they can be a big deal
You'll probably want to do a plot that's heavily based on character development- it's a coming of age story, after all. So without copying Anne of Green Gables exactly, you'll probably want to think along the lines of one of the Pixar rules of storytelling: every day, everyone/someone did ____, until _____ happened. You're going to put your MC into a new situation where they have to learn and grow.
