Okay, so who here just hates it when you there's a show you absolutely love and want to discuss all the time, so you check out the fandom. Turns out, the fandom is NOT at all interested in what you have to say about the story, the subtle commentary, but rather the shipping, and which character ends up with which character? For example, the Pokemon Adventures/ Special fandom, not really a terrible fandom, I just hate that the majority of the fanbase focuses so much on who they want to see end up together. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THE MANGA IS THE STORY. WHY DOES NOBODY ELSE SEEM TO CARE?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?

@Masterkey

I FEEL YOU

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME! IT'S ABOUT THE PLOT, THE CHARACTERS, AND THE QUALITY OF THE SHOW, PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES PEOPLE!!!

@shurikenwolfbadass_13 Any form of commentary is never too harsh. Just let it all out…

I HATE that the Star Wars fandom I swear mostly full of people that hate on The Last Jedi. I mean, it’s fine if you didn’t like it, but you have NO RIGHT to say that someone isn’t a ‘real fan’ because they liked it.

@@jyandor Yeah I just looked at some of the reviews from fans on metacritic and people are being ridiculously harsh. Like, geez, It isn't the worst star wars movie ever made. And it is definitely not the death of the franchise.

shurikenwolfbadass_13

That movie was fine…

Hey, did anyone notice that the aliens that Luke milked on that one island look identical to the Nudist Aliens from Futurama?

I mean, in my opinion it was th best, but my opinion regardless, HOW CAN SOMEON ETHINK IT WAS WORSE THAN ATTACK OF THE CLONES? ‘“Ihate sand. It’s coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere. But not here. Nothing is like that here…”

@shurikenwolfbadass_13 Oh God you're right

shurikenwolfbadass_13

@Winter that's nothing new!

@Masterkey

I'm one of the people who hated The Last Jedi, and I've never been a hardcore fan before. I enjoy Star Wars, yeah. But don't ask me about the lore or trivia. I thought The Last Jedi was one of the worst star wars movies, and then just a plain bad movie regardless.

Oh wait this thread is about OTPs…

shurikenwolfbadass_13

It's OK if you don't like the movie. There were a few problems.)

@Masterkey

A few?!?!

Okay yeah, I just like giving my opinion, iss all

@Masterkey I started off the thread by talking about how people focus less on story and more on shipping. Yet here we are focusing on Star Wars rather than the topic of the discussion.
"You have become the very thing you swore to destroy!"

@Masterkey

It's my fault everyone… throw me off the ship.

shurikenwolfbadass_13

(@Winter 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀)

shurikenwolfbadass_13

That is what you call, an SJW @lynandor, thwy get triggered over whatever, and try to add some racist/sexist/homophobic/abuse type bullshit onto it to make it seem politically correct.

shurikenwolfbadass_13

There's a difference between supporting a cause, and using it for your own personal gain.

Yeah. It really bugs me that some headcanons get so claimed by the fandom that they start on with the ‘if Disney doesn’t make stormpilot happen they hate gay people’ or ‘if reylo happens Disney is promoting abuse’. I mean, I have a lot of headcanons, and I’m very attached to some of them (ace Rey, ace Luke, bi Cassian, autistic Bodhi) but that doesn’t mean I’ll bash someone who disagrees with me, like some ‘fans’.

Yet another thing is that every
fandom has its own issues:
PJO/MC fandom puts LGBTQIA+ characters on a pedestal and everyone is expected to like the character, even if they’re not well written or very likable
Star Wars fandom is too obsessed with SJW v.s. ‘Anti-Feminist’ battles to focus on characters, even going as far as to say that new characters are ‘useless’ or ‘only written for representation ‘ and criticize the Last Jedi.
Harry Potter: overly obsessed with shipping wars and ships with like no canon evidence, such as Drarry (they literally HATE EACH OTHER) and Wolfstar
The Lunar Chronicles: I’m not too deep in this fandom, but it seems like the only acceptable ships are the canon ones.
Disney Fandom: ‘dirty Disney confessions’ IT’S LITERALLY MOVIES FOR KIDS! KEEP INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT OUT!!
Add your fandoms ;)

@jynandor Yeah I totally agree I love writing female characters! And NO, it's not because I'm a feminazi or whatever I just like seeing strong depictions of women in fictional stories! No Nerf rebelle commercial-style bs where the main character is like "aw heel yeah im a girl AND i shot down a plane. hah! Take that movies with guys!". Is there anything wrong in that idea?!

That's why I love The Lunar Chronicles! The girls are all amazing!

Jenna

I loved the Last Jedi …Reylo fan here (apparently it's a controversial ship??) …..Anyways it's just so angsty/forbidden romance type and I just can't resist that. "Enemies to lovers" is a top ten favorite trope for me— It's just such a rollercoaster dynamic, and I find it incredibly engaging.

Yes! Reylo

Jenna

The author of the last Jedi novel mentioned Reylo shippers directly in a tweet regarding the book which comes out next week. Also, Someone happened to get it early and has been tweeting about it. We get baby Ben flash backs and more clarification about the force bond

@Jenna Interesting! I might have to pick it up sometime!

@itsnamira

Oh god, I feel like I ghostwrorote this post- Also hey! More Reylo shippers!

I mean, this is mostly obvious in the Star Wars fandom, but there’s more and more people who say things along the line of ‘if you don’t like (or do like) shipping Character A and Character B, you’re racist/homophobic/antifeminist/promoting abuse. It’s like, calm down. Just because I don’t ship StormPilot or Drarry or Wolfstar doesn’t mean I’m homophobic. It just means I don’t like the chemistry. I don’t ship drarry because I don’t like mutual hate ships. Same with Kylux. But I do ship Barrissoka and Amileia. Another thing is when I ship a couple like Finnrose or Jeggy, people are like ‘no you can’t do that, that character’s gay’. 1. That’s bi erasure. Finn is attracted to Rey and probably also to Poe (let’s be honest, who isn’t?) 2. Just because you headcanon Poe as gay doesn’t mean that he is. I headcanon Poe as pan. That doesn’t make your headcanon more or less canon than mine. The only reason I ship Jeggy is because Jasmine and Anthony are in a relationship. Like geez, fanbabies (I, uh, mean fanboys) GROW THE KRIFF UP!!!!

SOO TRUE. The VLD fandom has this problem everywhere!
