Share Your First (And Worst) OC

I was obsessed with Manticores and so I just made this "Ash" girl, i usd her for…..2 years

my first oc was a mary-sue self insert from when I was 9, I don't know what franchise she was for tho. Probably star wars

My first OC (that I can remember) was a cat who was cursed to turn "evil" and kill someone (otherwise they wouldn't be able to turn back) at random times. I never really specified when they turned all "evil". I think it had to do with their mood. Surprisingly their design wasn't too bad. They were a mostly white cat with black markings on their ears, tail, and paws. Their eyes were blue (or purple, I changed it up a lot). I never really wrote a story for them because I think I was ten and I wanted to draw an evil cat. However whenever they turned "evil" her colours would change. They would now be sporting a black coat with white tips on the ears, tail, and paws. The weirdest thing though was that they now had red eyes, I don't know why I did that but for some reason I did. It was my first dive into character creation and I think I made something somewhat interesting. (Now that I think about it I made cat Jekyll and Hyde)
However, I don't consider them my worst character.

My worst character was this weird angle-demon hybrid that was angsty all the time. She did nothing but whine about how hard her life was. (I still like her design though, it's decent). I never gave her a personality because my young mind thought just making her a cool angle-demon was good enough character work. The reason she was even an antagonist was that one of the characters traveling with the main character rightfully warned the government about her because she was doing dangerous things. (I think she was killing someone but I can't really remember). Another thing that I did wrong when creating this character is that she had no relevance to the plot at all. She shows up then saves the universe by sacrificing herself and then no one talks about it again. I don't know why I made her sacrifice herself for the world, she had no reason too and the way I wrote her she wouldn't have done it anyway. Also, the universe being destroyed made no sense. Overall it was really me trying to get my footing in the anti-hero area and I am glad I made her however bad she was. Made me learn that a character can't be considered good just because it has a somewhat cool gimmick. I still have the story she was part of but I scraped her in the end.

I was super into Sonic the Hedgehog back in middle school, and my favorite design/super form was the one from Sonic and the Black Knight. Golden, spiky armor with the legendary sword Excalibur fighting Merlin's evil granddaughter (I still think it's cool), and so my character was a dude in that armor. He also had four pistols, two for his hands and two for the backs of his greaves (I had just found out about Bayonetta as well), and all he did was fight stuff.

To be honest, my MC still kind of does that.

When i was in 6th grade, i made my first OC. Without a doubt he was the worst. He was basically a kid who just for some reason had dragon powers and accidentally burned down his house and his family when he discovered them. He ended up living in the woods and became super-duper edgy. Like his eye was gouged out in a fight with some asshole who wanted to experiment on him. I almost always drew him bloody. No arcs, no personality except "i hate myself", and didn't do anything for a story. I think he was simply my edgy phase outlet lmao. also an anime weeb phase i dont want to remember oof

BUT, I attempted to remake him not too long ago for the sake of a little challenge. I had to scrap A LOT about him just so that it would at least be decent. Now I'm happy to use the character I've salvaged.

I actually had a warriors based OC as well. He was based on humanized lionblaze, and I've changed him a lot since then, but he actually didn't suck that much, and now he's my best (and favorite) oc

Lyra- she was wayyy over powered, she had a mysterious power to change into any animal she wanted, and whenever she was with her girlfriend, she had another kind of magic that basically just did nothing. oh and she did trapeze and played guitar.

Victorie was the product of a very badly written world that was a mash-up of avatar and spirit animals

I made a girl from some magical place (Harry Potter rip-off) named Crystal, when I was 10. She was a complete self-insert, and definitely a Mary Sue.

I made an absolutely wonderful angel girl who was super OP and also a total Mary Sue. I still shiver to think about her backstory and all the inaccuracies in her character (The one I remember most: She was turned into an angel during the Roman times, but had a Japanese name)

I made a bunch of Naruto and Final Fantasy OCs when I was like 14 and they were soooooo bad, they had tragic backstories and were completely OP, I'm actually pretty sure I tore up all my drawings of them in shame. However, I also created OCs in that time that were set in their own universe and that still exist to this day, though they have gone through lots of changes through the years.

I honestly think a self-insert in itself isn't bad, but when the self-insert dominates the story then it is.

I agree. Honestly, the second 'OC' I made was a self-insert. (more of a persona i guess since i didn't insert it into any fandoms really but whatever you choose to call it.) Of course young dumb me still had a garbage character, but eventually the self insert character turned into its own entity.

Besides, when you think about it, if anyone really writes characters based of any personal experience (hobbies and interests/ emotional experiences/etc.) you could say that every one of those characters have self-insert chunks. It's not wrong to write what you know sometimes. :)

My first oc was probably Narion, my child with questionable gender (pfff)
The first time i made them they had a sheep-ish face (the nose and the ears, most notably), with insect-like wings and were dressed up as Inuyasha (ye, i liked that cloth, fite me XD). They were like this all knowing sassy child, with some sick abilities and bad at hiding stuff (my fault there lmao). Oh, and they also used this big sword (where did that even come from qwq).
Now, after 6 yrs, i turned them into a smol neko-like child with little to say.

Now that I'm thinking about it, my first OC was probably Molly, who was some kind of fairy with giant rainbow sparkly wings. (Yeah, yeah, I know, you don't need to say it.) She went to fairy school, and she was super smart and popular and funny. (Although the jokes she told were terrible).

I have tried and failed over and over again to fix Albany's brother AJ (based on Jayfeather, yeah I know.) But he's been corrupted to far in my brain, so it feels weird to have him like anything other than perverted and sassy. He's probably my worst and most flawed oc, so that's always fun.

dear god… first oc?? my first oc was made when i was like 12 ish? she was this freakishly perfect princess with a suspiciously french name… her name was Drizzila Monie LaQuin… theres no other reason for her name to be that way except that I thought it sounded cool… i still draw her from time to time and I'm trying to figure out how to make a story for her cuz i really like her design… she has this REALLY puffy curly blonde hair and blue eyes… her first dress design sucked. it was like this weird 2 tone dress that was like a slate color on top and pink on the skirt… she also had this GIANT pink bow jutting out at the top of her head… but shes by no means my worst oc… that would go to either Harriett or Jinny… they had no character to them they were just flat characters i drew for fun… o god im so glad I got better at creating ocs…

My first OC was Pinkie Pie. Yes, the My Little Pony character. I watched that show (the older version) when I was little and started making up stories about how she's actually a superhero that fights monsters and villains with my stuffed animals and Link and Batman and all sorts of characters from a bunch of different universes, however, it wasn't really pinkie pie, just an OC of the same name and design because back then I was too dumb to actually come up with characters of my own. I actually tried to write a book off of her using Word and MS Paint (I was 7 btw) and… You can probably guess how that turned out. I think I still have the documents so I might be able to show you all a chapter or some of my *cough * …"ARTWORK".
