And knowing that soon she won't be able to seek the comforting words of strangers online telling her that things will be okay doesn't help much either…

Why they're depressed: She was an only child of two corrupt millionaires who barely acknowledged her existence. She grew up alone, learning about the world via books, the internet, and her private tutor who also pretty much ignored her. Once she realized her parents were essentially criminals, she became very disillusioned and cynical about life, which was further complicated by feelings of loneliness and a lack of personal motivation. She's starved for affection but too paranoid of the outside world to really reach out, and this leads to a downward spiral ending in depression.
(And in my story, that's only the beginning of her woes TvT)
