Virtual Creative Writing Club, anyone?

@ninja_violinist

Is this something people might be interested in?

The idea is pretty simple - the goal is to create a specific time during the week where you sit down and write. Hence the name "club" - think of it as like an after school activity or just something that you can put on your calendar as a time set apart to do writing-related things. It doesn't have to be for a long time - say a minimum of ten minutes or so - and you don't necessarily have to share it, but it's just a way to carve out a chunk of time in your schedule.

If anyone is interested, I'd post three prompts (one visual, one with words, and one music piece, usually) every Tuesday. Then you can use those (or not, they're just meant to prompt you) to sit down and get something done at whatever point during the week that you set yourself, and maybe post it in here for feedback if you'd like. Either way, we could check in with each other and maybe hold each other accountable too!

Anyone up for it?

Meeee~

"I have a solution.
"Thank goodness!"
"It involves fire."
"Absolutely not."

Music: "Undone" by Tommee Proffitt and Fleurie

@ninja_violinist

@ninja_violinist

It's Tuesday! Prompt time

Word Prompt:

Art Prompt: "Heart of the Forest" by Tuomas Korpi

Music Prompt: you can be king again (Original song: "King" by Lauren Aquilina)

Hi :) this is me admitting I didn't manage to take any time out of last week to write, but that I will definitely have the time to this week.
I'd seen the image prompt by yuumei before, though, so here is a poem I wrote about it a couple of months ago. I'd love any feedback from you guys!

birdheart

Caged bird
Singing songs about a life
You can only dream of
Where the air that saturates every empty space between these bars
Is an endless,
Open field
You can go
Explore

Where i don't fear you
Or fear for you
Your red feathers
Are my blood
Your song
My heartbeat
And i hold onto you so tightly
Thick gold bars make up my ribcage

I'm sorry
But i cant trust you
Not to fly too far away
To make the right decisions
I want so badly for you
to be
Right
To be
Good
To be

Just to be

And I'm sorry
But let me convince myself once more
That you singing songs of freedom
Is enough
That the bright red of your feathers
The saftey of this golden cage
Is worth
Giving up flight

I spired by the picture prompt, I whipped

Traveller

Thought the forest
Over the hills
Wind and rain fight

A traveller remains
Holding a bright light
To pause the light of day

A traveller looks for treasure
In the depths of the sea
And in dark caves
Without a light
To guide him on his way

A shining light in the dead of night
In a crowded city's way
The traveller wakes
And walks away
Leaving an endless tale

Looking for love and loving for the lost
A traveller stays to pray
His heart is heavy
And face is wet
And darkness steals the day

Lost in the forest the traveller is
He cannot find his way
Wind and rain talk in hushed whispers
As the traveller comes before them

The day is new but the travellers gone
An endless tale is all there is
His treasurer scattered in the sea

The traveller is gone but his stories live on
In the hearts of those he would meet

@ninja_violinist

I love both of those!
@cue-nervous-humming The imagery is really strong with this one! I particularly like how the ending kind of implies that the bird isn't the only one giving up flight!

@CW_StarkSpangledBanner Your imagery is also super powerful! But what I really like about it is how it's the impersonal things like the darkness or the wind and rain that are given the more human qualities, so in the end it seems almost like the traveller's story lives on in their hearts, if that makes sense.

Awe thanks!!

@CW_StarkSpangledBanner
What @ninja_violinist said. The places the traveler visits seem almost more alive than the traveler themselves. The imagery was really really good and it made me feel like a traveler, too!

And thanks for the compliments and critique, @ninja_violinist

Thanks guys, this was really quick and on the spot so it isnt really good, but I'm happy you like it!!

@cue-nervous-humming your poem was also really good! Its may have given me a different meaning than what others might have seen. I saw not an animal, but a person who has no other option but to be forced to stay in a helpless state. Freedom is so near they can almost taste it but still they are held back. I really enjoyed it

Yes that was the other meaning :) I'm glad you liked it!

I really did

Hello all, @ninja_violinist asked me to post the prompts for this week because she's a bit far from reliable internet at the moment.

So, here's the song

The word prompt

Enjoy, and as before, if it helps, check in that you did take the time to write something this week. Also, please feel free to post anything you write in this group for critiques-we're all here to enjoy each others writing and help each other grow, after all :)

Cool! I'll post something soon

"Be gay" yeah poem person I got that covered.

@croccin-champagne

Hi! I was wondering if you were still 'accepting' members to this? I could really use the organization and reminder to keep productive.

Yeah!!

@Simon-Says

Broooo I need this oh heck.

~:~365~:~

I saw as her as the night
Beautiful and mysterious
Hidden inside the moon
As she smiled at the sun

I saw her as the rain
Graceful and playful
Laughing with the clouds
As she danced away

I saw her as the water
Light and bright
Crystal clear about her
As she froze my heart

I saw her as the fall
Colorful and unique
Dancing with the wind
As she changed again

I saw her as the winter
Cold and cruel
Relentless in her pursuit
As she smiled at me

I saw her as many things
But the one thing I could not see
Was how her changing heart
Would certainly affect me
With the changing seasons
And the deadly smile
I saw her as one last thing
Before I turned to dust

Pale white face I saw everyday
For the years had passed with her
By my side, hand in hand
We sailed off in the night
She took my hand and cursed my heart
And I could not believe
That the one I trust
Had turned me into dust

I saw her as Death
Before I closed my eyes
I saw her smiling eyes
As they haunted me to sleep

@croccin-champagne

You'll see snow in winter and gold in fall
You'll eat too much candy, and sing and deck the hall
There's so much warmth in summer, and flowers in spring
Beach trips to April showers, these are just a few things the seasons bring

The sun doesn't shine every single day
But the world will never be just shades of gray
Sometimes you see nothing but rain
But the sun is always behind the clouds, waiting to shine again

A rainbow of colors, a rainbow of skies
Wouldn't it be nice to see every surprise?
A million different shades to see
As the leaves return to green

You'll fall in love with pretty lights and the snow that coats the trees
And watch as each new flower blooming makes another job for the bees
You can walk among the leaves as their colors change
The clear and sunny days giving way to the next phase

There are four different seasons, and 364 days in a year
There are seasons for family and holiday cheer
With so many colors and changes to watch
Wouldn't it be nice, to see them all?
