I'm a pretty old member of Notebook.ai. I used to frequent the forums probably 4-5 years ago when it was just getting started and beginning to blow up. I used to love this place and I remember meeting tons of new creator/writers here! This place used to be super busy with new discussion in each section being created like everyday, I feel like I learned so much and also helped out a lot of other creators out. I kind of faded away from the website after a while due to personal reasons, but I come back every so often to check it out. I'm kind of sad to see the state of the website now. It's basically a Roleplay forum. No one ever asks questions, no one ever creates new discussions in places other than the RP sections. If they do, they go relatively unreplied to. I remember drawing tons of characters for people on this website and always giving critiques to stories and characters.

Maybe it's just the users from back then have all moved on or theres less new members joining or something, but I never remember it being this bear bones and out of touch with the purpose of the site.

I mean, I have since moved on from here for the most part, aside from occasionally checking the forums for replies. Since graduating college, I have discovered that writing a book really isn't something I want to do, and I really would rather write professionally i.e. marketing and technical writing. Most of my creative focus has since been placed into my ongoing Lancer campaign, and I've really tried to find something else to get my notes down due to the site's shift towards using AI prompts and image generation.

(Whoddathunk it, notebook.ai using ai software?)

I also don't have anyone I'd consider a friend on here, or at least someone I would use this site to interact with. I think a lot of the OG users are starting to become old folks shaking their fists at the clouds with all the young'ns around, and most of us are now adults with adult lives.

Lol that's certainly a possibility. I'm in college now versus the freshman in highschool I once was when I first joined this website lol. So it would make sense for most people to have just moved on and discovered other paths in life.

Also, I didn't even know about the AI prompts and stuff, I haven't checked out the character creator thingy in a while.

Honestly, things are way more lively in the discord server. I know I'm more inclined to answer messages in the discord because I get notifications for them, where on here I can go weeks without checking the forums.

Yeah. I completely understand. I’m just not super active anywhere anymore. Do I miss the memories I made, yes. But maybe it’s a time where I gotta forge ahead and chart my own path and find a way to exist in this world.

I’m not too old of a user, hung out here for a while two or so years ago. Now, I’m inactive because my life has moved other ways. I’m busier now. I have a band and martial arts and so much homework. Every day changes your life a little bit. God moves things in and out of your life as He wants it. It just so happens Notebook.ai is not His plan for me right now.

Maybe I’ll pop back in a few months from now and fix up my old character pages. Most of the stories are now heavily altered or sadly no longer in progress. (I still haven’t written anything yet. I just let my stories stew and stew and stew… and now I’m forgetting things.)

That is entirely okay. Sometimes to grow, we have to let some parts that made us who we are, die. How do you think a flower grows, and how do you think a flower blooms? We have our moments of beauty and a time of life, but when we need to let things go, we let them go. We let it die, in order for us to have new and exciting growth. I'm excited to hear about what you've done and will do in your life. It was a fantastic time knowing you. Drop in everyone once in a while to say hi. I'll still be around. I try to pop in every few weeks.

Notebook was a lot different 5 years ago 😂. We had a cult era, usernames that could be outrageously long, a fairly active general chatting area, where everything was mushed together, from site stuff to what's your spirit Pokémon or some mess like that. It's gotten better over the years, but it's sad seeing people that I used to RP or chat with fade out. @Eldest-God-andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), what can you say about the ye olden days of yore of Notebook?
