He decided to stand guard in case anyone else strange approached, knowing he would be useless otherwise. Xander paced the perimeter of the clearing.

Xander heard Ellie's voice over his racing mind. He glanced over to see her stirring, just a little. However, he figured it was still best he keep his distance. Xander was slouched up against the bark of a tree and watching carefully, in case there was something he needed to do.
