Cryptid concept
they’re attracted to sounds, some sounds attract them more than others. often, what really gets their attention is music though. the music can come out of anything, an actual instrument, a tv, a phone, a radio, whatever; they’ll remember where the sound came from. They’ll basically do anything in their power to steal the object and bring it to their den. I imagine they live by the water and is semi-aquatic, but their actual lair is kind of this hidden cave by the water or something like that. Upon entering their cave you’d find all of the stuff they’ve collected over the years, some stuff new and other stuff very old..dating back to the 1600s kind of stuff here. Whatever they collect they care for it quite well, and do their best to avoid breaking stuff. You’ll find the stuff in their lair is organized almost perfectly.
They actually don’t steal or kidnap people, in fact when collecting their stuff they’ll do everything in their power to avoid causing harm to their surroundings or people. in reality, they’re very shy and avoid confrontation if possible. The only part where they confront people is if they enter their cave, in which they’ll attempt to frighten them off, even avoiding causing any harm at that point. When stealing stuff, they’ll also do everything in their power to avoid being sighted. Very patient cryptid.
In terms of appearance, I’d image this guy would walk on all fours. They’d be more animal like in terms of body shape, with a long tail. Smooth head, four pure black eyes (two on each side of the head). Webbed feet and gills alongside their fairly long neck. Body covered in smooth scales, in similar feeling to a snake. Kind of a long body. Two small ‘arms’ by their front legs, which they use to grab stuff. I can try and see if I can do some sketches of this fella.
Very fast and very silent. If anything, I’d classify them as being a neutral sort of being whos more confused if anything. They have small, two rows of sharp teeth and feed on fish which they catch from the ocean. Cannot speak, but presumably understands speech. It’s just their choice to ignore it or not.
I’d imagine this guy be called Melody. Despite their music interests, Melody doesn’t actually make very much noise at all; they may even be incapable of making noise.
