Broadswords are fun, but hella heavy. Rapiers are a lot lighter.
I personally have never swung a sword before….I've held a katana tho! lol

I've only ever fought with dowels, but I've held stage broadswords (about 1/3 of the weight) and held enough at once to make it feel like I was holding a legit one. I've also held a stage rapier.
