“Yeah, ok, hot cocoa is the clear winner in the battle of drinks.” Lydia said, adding under her breath, “Quickly followed by tequila.”

“I haven’t had hot cocoa since I was little.” Trent seemed amused by Blair’s assertion. “And what did I say about you drinking? Don’t joke like that!”

“Sorry.” Lydia winter at Blair.

Trenton rested his head back on the table, slightly agitated now. However, he was too tired to put up a good argument at the moment.

“I’m kidding, Trent.” Lydia said, putting her hand on his shoulder.

“Don’t joke about that.” He scolded gently, frowning a bit for good measure.

“It’s either laugh about it or cry about it.” Lydia replied simply. “I’ll try not to say anything though.”

“Talking about it isn’t the issue. It’s the normalising it for yourself that’s the issue.” Trenton sat up to look at Lydia, his eyes filled with concern.

“Really, it’s not a thing that happens often. I’ve been drinking about three times in my entire life.” Lydia says, not sure how to make Trent understand that she wasn’t an alcoholic, and that she wasn’t ever going to be.

“I know, I’m sorry. I just… get worried. I like you. I don’t want to see anything bad befall you, dwarf.”

“Don’t be sorry.” Lydia said, then added, “I’m not going anywhere for a while.”

Trent smiled warmly, giving Lydia a friendly pat on the head. “You better not be. I would miss you dearly.” He grumbled playfully, once again slouching down to rest his head on the table with a wide yawn.

“But for real, you need sleep.” It was Lydia’s turn to be concerned.

“Nonsense, Lydia. If I went to sleep now my hair would be even worse later and I need to practice for the campfire as well. Sleeping would be unnecessary, even foolish, at this hour.”

“You can’t practice if you randomly fall asleep somewhere. But if you stay in your bed and have someone wake you up, you’ll be refreshed and ready for the campfire.” Lydia said, trying not to let her worry be heard.

“I understand your concern, but I am more than capable at keeping myself awake.”

Lydia began to argue again, but sighed instead. “Fine. But if you get any worse, tell me.”

“Will do.” Trenton replied blandly, already not planning on doing that.

Lydia squeezes Trent’s shoulder before letting go, putting her head on her fists.

“I still can’t believe I forgot my pill this morning.” He sighed, rubbing at his eyes. Blair was quiet enough that he’d almost forgotten the teen was sitting across from him.

“What?”

Trent looked back over at her, chuckling a little. “Already forgot? Y’all have terrible memory. It’s all that caffeine.”

“It’s not the caffeiene’s fault. I was distracted for the majority of the day.”

He shot a wary glance at Blair, unsure if he wanted the boy to know about his condition. But at the moment everything seemed calm, and it was likely he would forget anyways. “I’m anemic, dwarf. You went with me to get my iron pill this morning. This is merely side effects of not taking my pill on time combined with over exertion and little food.”

Lydia cursed again, wondering how she could forget something. “Right. Sorry.”
(Meanwhile Hawkeye is very, very annoyed with herself for being an idiot. Sorry…)

“Worry not. You have had much to occupy your thoughts today.” Trent nudged her lightly with his elbow. “Now I get to be the one to tell you to stop apologizing. It is unnecessary.”

(Lmao It’s okay the only reason I remembered is because I was re-reading some stuff!)

“We both need to not apologize anymore. Family rule number one: no apologizing unless needed.”

“I get the feeling I will break this rule quite often.” Trent paused, grinning. “I apologize for my future infringements.”

“Oh we all will. Maybe it’s more of a guideline.”
