( I thought it was cool to have this depressed cold person with the crystal of life, but then you're the medic of course. I had a glorious plan where he spit on it, making it wet, and put it down his shirt on his chest which was cool and also helped with the Zosiah ship.)

"I don't need it you idiot." Zoe rolled her eyes as she finished up healing him. "See all better now."

Josiah sat up, putting pressure on his rib cage and chest. "Give me a moment, will you?" He began to lift his shirt. (He's gonna see a big black thing and then do the crystal thing that makes it 100% ok I mean he knows what he's doin here, it's happened before - Josiah's got a weird backstory, is this ok?)

(It's a stain on the internal side of the skin, from an army tattoo that he had, but then removed using a jade tactic called 'compression' in which they expel the ink inwards. Whenever he's pressed that skin against anything for too long it comes back and hurts so he spits on his crystal to infuse it and presses it against the tattoo, it goes back into the skin.
Is that ok? I tried to make it explainable.)

so one day he pulled the short straw and got the oldest month's box of food. It was so old that it was infested with bugs which proceeded to make a home in the area where he has the pain. Basically, he's infested with all sorts of bugs. And when he positions himself so that his bodily fluids make their way to his chest, they'll all come together and manifest as a black thing to an outsider. They don't like his mouth, so his spit combined with the life crystal shoos 'em away. Dat ok?)

Josie grabbed his crystal and brought it up to his mouth. "I said, give me a second. Unless you want to see how I do it. You're a medic, no shame in that." He said this with one hundred perfect confidence and seriousness.

"Uh …….ok then…." Zoe said in complete confusion

The rest of his body was suddenly deathly pale. Josie shrugged and spit on the crystal, letting it sink into the depressions of the carved Mandala. Once he was sure it was on for sure, he lifted his shirt until his chest was revealed. But what a disturbing chest it was!
A large, completely black mass covered it all, and it was wriggling slightly as if it were alive. Josiah nearly crushed the crystal, squeezing it in his fist so hard that a deep green glow filled the room. He then brought the crystal to his black chest, and after a couple seconds, he brought it back. His chest was the normal color again, and his normal skin tone spread throughout the rest of his body almost as though it was moving. He looked up at Zoe.
"Want an explanation or no?"

"Urm….uh…." Zoe was trying to comprehend what just happened. "Sure………"

"Okay, well, long story short, I'm infested with bugs and sometimes they all gather there, and my spit plus my crystal drive 'em to the rest of my body again." He looked up at her. "Sorry if it makes you think I'm disgusting. It wasn't my choice - otherwise, I would have starved to death. I'm sorry."

"You know you can like eat and then like throw them up…..right?"

"No, not anymore. I've done it before and trust me, it was worse. You can't exactly throw up your bloodstream, can you?"

Houston heard the clunk clunk of Cicada's large boots above his deck. Hurriedly putting away his pets and unlocking the door just in case she came into his room, he hid in the large closet next to his bed. Hopefully, she wouldn't find him - just assume he died or something. The shame was too much, she couldn't see his tear-streaked face - even if he was already practically banished by now.

Cicada walked down into Houston's quarters. She called out into his room, "Houston. We need to talk."

"No, not anymore. I've done it before and trust me, it was worse. You can't exactly throw up your bloodstream, can you?"

Zoe winced. "we'll figure out something."

Out of all four kingdom's, Jade has the largest military and the most territory from conquering. They are very closeminded and being a soldier is considered an honor. Despite the fact most are treated like shit. Most of the citizens have darker skin tones, there government runs at corruption. Their search for the island is fueled by a need for a higher military technology. They would harvest the crystals and leave none left to regrow.

Onyx has no interest in war or fighting, the kingdom alone has almost every book written. Few books cannot be found in Onyx. The people are extremely open minded to anything and anyone. Citizens are extremely diverse in the people their, however there is a slight corruption in the government at the moment. They want to find Crystalline in order to study the crystals. Possibly leave none left to regrow, or transplant them off the island killing them.

Ruby is riddled with crime, some of it organized, some of it not. Most thieves, pirates, gangs, and other criminals find refuge here. As long as you aren't an officer, the people have no problem with you being there. Citizens are often scarred otherwise they have a wide range of races, corruption is rampant, but not even closes to Jade's. Thought the people are criminals and rarely talk, all will stand up and fight for Ruby. If someone from Ruby found Crystalline, well look at the current timeline. That's what would happen.

Princesses: None
Pearl is the least militant country, it has low violence rates and get raided/attacked on an almost monthly basis. They are open minded to all people, however the older folks don't like this new take and will protest often. Most citizens have lighter skin tones, and no corruption in the government. If this kingdom found Crystalline, well. I honestly don't know, they would most likely share it with the other kingdoms.

Houston didn't respond from inside the closet.

Cicada groaned, "If I don't see you by the count of three your punishment will get worse. 1."

Houston gulped. He considered just leaving the ship, but how could he? Taking a deep breath, he unlocked the closet, let himself out and opened the door, not meeting Cicada's gaze.
