"Everyone's leaving." Mre muttered, fingers tapping. "Usually, people at bars stay for at least an hour."

This tavern is kinda a little island reality in the middle of all of the story worlds around it. There isn’t really any time passing technically. It’s always night here.
Adri glanced over to the door, shivering at the night air. "Do you get a lot of travelers around these parts?"

Calix came back in what felt was like a few minutes. He was followed by another guy as they emerged from a portal and walked into the tavern.

"I get quite a few people. Along with being a resting place, it's also kind of a focal point so if you're going from one place to another you go through here by default."

"Hey Calix, nice to see you back. Want a drink?" The barkeeper asked. "You too new guy. Name, drink, and story please."

"Yeah I'll have another Vodka." Calix said and pulled the other guy with him to sit at the counter.
"I'm Vasilios. I'll have water. And um I became a demon by selling my soul to cure my cats illness and to get her to live longer." The other guy whose name was Vasilios said.

The barkeeper poured out two drinks and handed them to the guys. "Wow, I've heard some weird demon deals but that's probably in the top ten. Nice to meet you Vasilios."

"Nice to meet you too. What is your name may I ask?" Vasilios asked.

"She's the barkeep." Both Mre and S.K answered in unison, Mre giggling a bit afterward. "I'm S.K." S.K said.

“Yes, and unless you are told otherwise, you will address me as barkeep.”

Vasilios nodded and drank his water.
Calix just stayed quiet then adjusted his cloak.

“So Calix, is this your mystery boyfriend?”

"Yeah. He is." Calix said then drank some of his drink.

“Oh, so you’re the one who makes bad decisions. Funnily enough you’re the one who ordered a water.” The barkeeper refilled Calix’s cup.

Vasilios looked at him "Yeah but he is an angel and isn't even affected by alcohol."
Calix sighed and nodded. "I've been kicked out of many Earth bars because they said I was drinking too much and was definitely over the legal limit."

“Well I’m not going to kick you out here.” The barkeeper said. “Angel huh? What department?”

"Guardian, or Warrior. I am one of those two, or both. The two have merged over time." Calix replied.

“What species are you Vasilios. Must be something special to attract an angel.”

Vasilios looked down. "I'm a demon…"

The barkeeper stood stock still for a second before blurting out, “oh the irony.”

“Oh sorry about that. Um…that’s just quite the awkward topic especially for me.”

The barkeeper leaned close to the two and lowered her voice. “I’m the child of an angel and a demon. Extremely forbidden. No wonder you didn’t kill me on sight. I’m wanted all over heaven. And hell for that matter.”

“Quite rare as well. Only other species I’ve met before was a niflium: child between an angel and a human.”

"wow. And it's alright. I don't really hunt down stuff. And he is too wimpy to do anything." Calix responded

“You two are so cute it’s hard to tell you that if you value your lives, you should never have children.”

"Aw thanks." Calix said and smiled.
Vasilios drank his water and looked down.
