Main character, Aeron, male, 17
Every 200 years a colony of humans leaves their planet and goes to find two new planets (they split in half)
Aeron is the son of the colony leader, the colleader (what do you think of this nickname?), and, two days after planetleave, the mothership carrying Aeron is hijacked by a ragtag group of pirates (5 in charge, then about 40 minor characters who will remain nameless, so crew of 50). The pirates kidnap Aeron, planning to hold him for ransom. But something separates the two ships and they're separated before the ransom can be paid

I need something to carry me through the middle of the book, but I'm aiming for 75k words.
