(I would totally agree, but I'm pretty sure the president has to be American….)

@ravens

We could make an exception for an angel from Heaven (Canada) like you.

For example, let's look at one of the things mentioned: Abortion laws.
Now, to avoid full on debates, I'm going to try and only show examples of progress going completely backwards that both sides can agree are twisted. Or at least I hope they can…

We've all heard about Alabama, they're trying to pass a law that would ban all abortions after the baby's heartbeat can be detected, so at about 5-6 weeks, with exceptions only if it's to save the woman's life (Well, actually, I've heard there are also exceptions for her health, including mental health, so it's not that extreme). There are absolutely no exceptions for incest or rape, and any doctor that performs an abortion not fitting those exact rules could be sentenced to life in prison. Now, being the overly pro-life person I am, I'm not completely against all that, but I can perfectly understand why others would be.
…However, here's the thing, if the law goes into place, it could easily be abused to punish women for having a miscarriage, which is usually a completely accidental thing that's already extremely painful for the mother, and to add legal stuff on top of that just seems terrible.

And then on the other side, there's New York. Oh dear gosh do I hate New York…
You might not have heard about this, but basically, they've passed a law that allows abortions up until the very moment of birth. Some people might think this is an amazing milestone for women's rights, others might believe this is completely freaking messed up, whatever, you do you.
The main issue comes from the fact that now, in the case of a failed abortion, it is perfectly legal for doctors to refuse to give the baby any sort of treatments allowing them to, you know, live. Think about that for a moment. It's completely legal to slowly and painfully kill off an already-born baby if the mother simply didn't want it.
And to make it even worse, after this was put into place, the state freaking celebrated, having multiple landmarks lit up pink, and going on and on in the media about how this is "such an amazing step for women's rights". my faith in humanity is dying faster than the innocent victims of after-birth abortion

In other words, no one likes America at the moment. Not left-wingers, right-wingers, or the weird groups in between. Everything's a mess here, no one's happy, this country is doomed, and we still don't have Kinder surprise eggs. * sobs * I just wanted my almost microscopic plastic toy, dang it…

Oof… I was on my phone and didn't see any recent messages. Sorry about that

I hadn't heard about new york. That's pretty much only because the only place I hear about these things is on tumblr.

True. But there are so many people fighting against all the crappy stuff! Which is what I meant earlier.
