oh flip.

Well the salts release a chemical–ammonia (I THINK??? its one of those A ones….lemme double check) which irritates the membranes in your nostrils (where the exposed bit of your brain is) and in your lungs which launches you into alertness. It causes the involuntary inhalation reflex.

It doesnt last forever like it does in the movies though. After a person is awakened they have about ehhhhh 15 mins or so before they start feeling sluggish and low on energy again. Especially if injured. More than likely that person will pass out again in the near future.

I've heard from some of my EMT friends that it is literally the most uncomfortable feeling and not fun.

–double checked. It is ammonia.

Edit: the same shit in cat pee–which you've probably noticed makes your nose and lungs all fucked up for a bit after cleaning out the litter box.

So if the person was already suffering from loosing a a decent amount of blood and a headache, they'd probably pass out again in 20 or so minutes?

I thought this was about hair dye for a second and I was like

"I…
Am not equipped to answer this question"

Hey Mox, what do you know about drugstore temporary hair dye?

Well I’m glad you asked Pickles, because it happens to be a lot!

DO NOT use Manic Panic or Splat (sorry Miriam) unless you want your hair to literally fade before the first wash. That happens with both of these brands.

L’Oréal Colorista is like. Okay. It’s not bad, but I do have some better ones.

I’ve heard really good things about Arctic Fox. I myself have never used it, but people swear by it. My ultimate favorite is Ion Permanent Brights. It’s a permanent, not semipermanent so it lasts so long. Literal months. They also have a semi permanent one in case you don’t want it to last quite as long

Also if you want a color depositing conditioner you could try the brand Eris uses (I’m totally blanking on the name rn). It’s a little more expensive than permanent dye tho

I also have some care tips to make your hair color last the longest. And if you find a brand that you’re thinking about that I didn’t mention, let me know, I might know it

pickles, you ask that and just yesterday mox was like
"i'm an expert on all terrible dye brands that fade before you wash your hair!"

I like that I have a thing that people go to for

Is Eris's brand called Arctic Fox? That comes to mind for some reason.

Thankkk
the only thing my friends go to me for is the occasional "what do you know about cults, they seem fun" and "was it Charlie Manson's mom who sold him for whatever it was?" And the answers are a little bit, what do you need to know, and yes his mom was a 16 year old sex worker and she sold him for a pitcher of beer why do you ask

If my child was Charles Manson, I'd sell him for a nickel and half a sandwich

Same. I don't need that cult negativity in my life even though he was a baby at the time iirc

I used Splat the first time I dyed mine blue and it didn't stay very well, but it comes with bleach, and that bleach is amazing. So skip the dye, but the bleach really does work well.

Baby shmaby, I'd rather have the pitcher of beer than a baby cult leader

Also I'm assuming that during the initial jolt they'd be sort of spacey and/or hyperactive?

Kinda want to dye my hair, but I don't have any dye and that won't justify a shopping trip.

me (reaching for my cocktail of pills): happiness tastes like chalk
jay: E–didnt you already take your dose today….?
me: …………………………………………………………………this is worse a greek tragedy.
jay: never was there a story of more woe than Eris and her pills-o.
me: THATS NOT GREEK
jay: I TRIED

Ive never wanted to love him more.

He did try. Good for him.

I've wanted to dye the tips of my hair purple for a while.

I'm debating purple or blue, and if she says no, I'm going to use the rest of the red I have from last time, no matter how trashy it looks. I just need something that's not bOrInG

Oh yeah we had an ammonia leak today. That was fun. The kitchen cabinet had invisible fumes billowing out.

Purple would be easier. Blue is really tricky

Y'all could also use Kool-Aid. Maybe a good idea during this pandemic. More accessible and won't last as long.
Although sometimes Kool-Aid lasts super long. When I was a child (aka pre-emo lmao), I'd dye my hair with Kool-Aid.
