Dreamworks fired the main people on the show. They basically told them that they weren't allowed to work on any future Dreamworks projects and I'm screaming-

There's no way Lance would settle for being an Altean farmer after he wanted to be a pilot for so long
Plus Klance didn't happen because LM and JSDS didn't like the fans??? Like okay I know it was toxic after a bit but it was still really petty

Yeah, I know. (I can't remember if I've said this before on here; sorry if I have) Klance and Shallura were originally supposed to be canon and that's why there's so much Klance development and why Allura was adult-coded in the beginning. The decision to make Shiro gay was a spur of the moment thing in an attempt to grab Diversity Points (probably because at the time Steven Universe was being applauded for Ruby and Sapphire, two female characters, getting married and kissing onscreen). A lot of the crew were low-key upset about it because it caused Allura to be bouncing around because apparently she had to be in a ship. That's why there were Allurance, Allura x Keith, and Allura x any character you can think of in some of the episodes. There was a huge argument about it and apparently Allurance won out.
