Fwoosh. The showerhead sprays water. Steam rises. Hot. Hot. Hot! I stick my fingers into the water to test it. I'm sticky, dirty, and gross. The guy working Gatekeeper pulled the harness down for me. It made me feel gross. It always does.

I make the shower colder. Warm. Bearable. Then I step in. I wash. Shampoo, face wash, body wash, conditioner. It's not my shower so I smell different.

Still, I'm able to go on autopilot and think. I run over the events from Cedar Point. Today I went with my friends Astin, Carson, and him. We're sleeping over at Carson's house. I'm in his shower. He isn't sleeping over though. He's not allowed.

He didn't join us for hours. When he did we went on Thunder Canyon and got thoroughly soaked. Then we did SkyHawk to sort of dry. Austin chickened out though.

I think about him. How desperately I wanted his attention. About how I wanted more than that. But he has a girlfriend.

So do I. The thought taunts me. I have a girlfriend and I still want his attention. His romantic attention.

I hate it. I hate the thought. Why do I crave it? Why?

I burn myself.

I don't even think about it.

All of a sudden my hand is reaching out and then my body feels a hot burning and freezing sensation.

I take a deep breath. Sharp. Cold. Hard.

Carson bangs on the door. "Are you ok in there?" He shouts.

I don't answer.

"Becca?"

I shut off the water. Cold. "Yea!" I chirp. "I'll be out soon" I step out. Fluffy towels comfort my burnt skin. I put on my undergarments. My shirt. My hoodie. My pants.

I step out. "Next!" I call brightly. Like I didn't just burn myself. Like I don't hate myself. Like I don't wish for death. Like I'm fine

The endless loop of waking, eating, puttering around until bedtime, and sleeping, why can’t I break the loop?

I woke up this morning like this. I would have a horse show today, but it’s been raining too much and the arena is too wet, so I have nothing to do but sit around and melt my brain in ten different ways. I’m very tired of existing.
