I think I’m putting too much faith into them. They seemed really cool (and some of them still are) but the more I learn the worse it gets.
Unfortunately, no matter what I do I cannot escape them as they are, in fact, irl friends that go to all the homeschool dances and are generally liked by my family
plus if I had to tell my parents that the reason I stopped associating with them is cause they’re “transphobic assholes” I would probably be grounded and forced to Ben Shapiro for a month

My family is the big transphobic too…
My mom works with a lot of LGBT students but still misgenders them, says things like "a girl who wants to be a boy" in describing trans boys, and she's explicitly told me to not bring up the fact that my fiance has 2 siblings who don't id with their birth genders (one's a trans guy, the other is an enby). Also my fiance uses they/them pronouns, but that sounds like something my family will never know. (Just keep thinking I'm straight, guys….)
Like is it really that hard to be respectful? I know it's easy to be disrespectful towards things you don't understand, but even effort to learn can go a long way.

However, Ella, I will say, your friends are still young and have time to change. So they might be terrible now, but they aren't hopeless forever necessarily.

OK SO we have a problem. One of my close friends recently came out as transgender and I keep on accidentally calling him his old name/pronouns out of habit. I feel terrible everytime I do, and I'm sure he does too, so I need help breaking the habit. Any advice on how I can break out of this habit? Or should I just try my best to call him the correct name/pronouns until it becomes a habit??

Just catch and correct yourself, and move on. If it helps, maybe in your own time, write/talk about him to yourself so you get more practice? I promise it'll eventually set in, as long as you make the effort and as long as at your core, you respect his gender identity.
Also, don't freak out about it. Just correct yourself and move on, maybe throw in an apology after or when you two are alone.
