So… I don't know where else to ask this but I've been seeing a lot of people adding ”hates-COPPA” to the end of their names lately. What does COPPA mean?

COPPA stands for The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which is aimed to specifically protect the privacy of children under the age of 13 by requesting parental consent for the collection or use of any personal information of the users, first taking effect in April 2000. Basically, we really, really don't like the new law recently implemented all because of a stupid lawsuit which means some bad news for popular content creators on Youtube. Let me explain why.
Any popular content creator, with a monetized channel with any videos, let's take PewDiePie as an example. If he has say, a video with even a hint of being aimed at kids, then that video is then demonetized (which means that Youtube takes away 90% of the income that Felix makes from that video) and he is fined thousands of dollars for that video. Now, if he has a video that Youtube deems "too mature" for the Youtube platform, then that video is also demonetized. If Felix has at least two or more videos meeting those criteria, those videos are not only demonetized, but he will be fined thousands of dollars per video. And this is bad news for those creators because a lot of popular Youtubers actually create videos as their full-time job, and this new law could potentially put so many of the creators on Youtube that we enjoy without jobs.
And that sucks, because there's a reason Youtube Kids exists.
