Things You Want MORE Of In Books

part of why I've been procrastinating. telling myself I want to read Shadow and Bone first and then. Not

I read Six of Crows without having read the Grisha trilogy, and I understood the world pretty easily. I would recommend reading Shadow and Bone before Crooked Kingdom though, since some of the characters from it appear in CK.

Honestly, I read the Six of Crows duology before the Grisha trilogy and I'm glad I did because I don't think would have read SoC had it been the other way around. You get kind of more of an in-depth explanation about the magic system in the Grisha Trilogy but it's not super complicated so you'll be fine if you don't read it.
Kind of recommend just going straight for SoC because the Grisha trilogy is kind of terrible.

but that's just my opinion

@ElderGod-Icefire

tbh I read the Grisha trilogy so spread out that I lost the thread of the plot lmao

good betrayals

That aren't followed with "they were only pretending to betray the main character to help them"

I actually saw one good instance of the "haha, jk, I didn't actually betray you." At least I thought it was good. The betrayal wasn't to "help" the main character. It was more along the lines of forced betrayal.
People have kind of made betrayals into a weird trope though. Not a fan.

You know when a character gets hurt and then either their friend or love interest have to help them and that's when they realize how much they care about each other? I like that. I want more of that.

@ElderGod-Icefire

YES. Also more Good enemies-to-lovers, because that's…my favorite trope tbh

Cough Evie and Sam cough
Not really enemies-to-lovers I guess, but sort of.

Daniella has a breakdown and Nathaniel hugs her and inhales sharply it's perfect.

Yes I loved them!!
Haha they're more of…adversaries to lovers. They were never truly enemies

Ah. If that's how I died, I'd come back to aggressively haunt whoever used it.

'Sucky' protagonists. Not in the way that they're dumb or anything but in the way that they're more of what people would think an antagonist to be.

Kind of like Jude in Holly Black's Folk of the Air. People complain so much in reviews because 'She's a bad protagonist. She's so selfish.' as though that isn't the genius of her character design. Protagonists aren't supposed to be good people; they're just the main character working towards a goal, no matter how morally wrong or right it may be in the views of others.

Jude Duarte could cut my heart out of my chest and I'd ask her to autograph it.

Not really a fan, but I believe Artemis Fowl did a decent job with that.

Best friends that are Aro deciding to get married so they can live together and have a great time. Like that would be the best.

We'll both be closeted aros with conservative parents, so there'll be more than just tax benefits

Reminds me of my friend being like, “If we haven’t found anyone by the age of 30, do you want to get friend-married?”
