Built For Mercy
The series progresses like a normal Pacifist run, but with the passing knowledge of Chara haunting and attaching themself to Frisk. Only Frisk can fully see Chara. No one else is able to see Chara until Chara takes over Frisk’s body, even if it’s in small batches. Continue through, only highlighting the differences compared to the original (and reactions to Frisk asking the main Monsters about Chara). Before going through and facing Sans, Frisk gets a call from Alphys, explaining that she had a breakthrough in her experimentation to help separate Chara from Frisk by getting a stable body. Unfortunately, Alphys didn’t remain tight-lipped about this breakthrough and slips up to Undyne, who confers to Papyrus and Sans, all of whom confront Frisk, and also Chara, about why Chara shouldn’t be let loose. After these intense talks, Frisk and Chara have a fight of their own, in the aftermath of which, Frisk lets their guard down and gets sneak-attacked by an unknown assailant. The attack leaves Frisk mortally wounded (damage to the SOUL), and unable to fully RESET. Of which there are four endings:
Best Ending: Frisk and Chara both survive the transfer into their respective bodies.
- Consequences: Chara lives on as a flower-buddy with Frisk as they both continue the game fully Pacifist, and getting through the final hurdle with Chara appearing and calming down Asriel/Flowey until they’re both children again. Chara decides to stay with Asriel in the Underground, and Frisk takes up the mantle as an ambassador for Monster and Human affairs.
Worse Ending: Frisk barely survives the transfer, but is killed by Chara, deciding to “put them out of their misery” before going on a rampage through the underground with Frisk’s SOUL.
- Consequences: Chara demolishes the population of the Underground until they reach Asriel/Flowey, and is then stuck forever battling the Asriel/Flowey, neither of them relenting as they both hold human souls, that is until the mountain caves in on them and traps them for all eternity.
Saddest Ending: Frisk dies right after the transfer is complete, leaving Chara to wake up next to a dead Frisk and hostile souls around them, of whom decide to imprison them for life.
- Consequences: Frisk’s SOUL is captured by their friends and preserved for Asgore so he can open the barrier, all the while Frisk says goodbye to whoever holds their SOUL and blesses Asgore’s conscious with the knowledge that Frisk doesn’t hate him or any of the monsters in the Underground. Chara lives on in prison until they die. Once they die with a whimper, they finally see Frisk again, only for a moment, before everything fades to a comforting black.
Neutral Ending: Chara opts to switch places with Frisk, using the RESET feature to heal Frisk at the expense of Chara disappearing from this timeline.
- Consequences: Frisk is torn apart inside at this sacrifice, knowing that they can’t bring Chara back now that Frisk is no longer able to RESET properly. Frisk continues to live in the Underground with their friends until they find a way to fix their RESET abilities. [possible continuation of another story or can also leave off with abiguity].
