Mickey then thought a bit to herself. "Then…what do you have in this…New York?"

"Water, juice, coffee, tea, soft drink…" He trailed off, shrugging.

"Do you not have to boil water anymore?" She asked, surprised. "Um…can I try a soft drink?"

Kai nodded, grinning, "Okay, of course you can. it is fizzy so be warned." He chuckled, heading back into the kitchen to pour the drink.

"What's…fizzy?" Mikayla thought to herself as Kai started to fix up the drink for her.

"Like…bubbly, it'll feel tingly when you drink it." He explained, shrugging.

"Oh, OK then. We've never called it bubbly, but I think I know what you're talking about."

Kai nodded, bringing the glass of lemonade over to her, "Here."

Mickey downed the sweet liquid warily, not knowing what it would taste like. When she liked it, she drank t quickly. "Ah! It burns!" She cried as the bubbles fizzed in her throat.

Kai cracked a small smile but it faded, "It will burn when you chug it."

"So I shouldn't do that again?" She asked. "Can I…can I have some more?"

Kai smiled and nodded, "Of course you can. Just drink this one in sips."

Mickey nodded. "I will try," She smiled.

Kai smiled back before he headed back to the kitchen to get her another drink.

Mickey looked around Kai's apartment. Times had changed so much. When Lysander was still around, all they had were stone houses and wooden furniture.

Kai hummed softly to himself as he grabbed the drink. His brain was running a hundred miles an hour but he forced himself to say in the moment for a little while. He walked back and handed her the drink.

She took the drink eagerly, then remembered that she should take it slowly. She took a a small sip. "Um…if you don't mind me asking…do you have any family?"

Kai tensed a little but forced himself to relax and shook his head, "No.. I don't. Not anymore."

"Can you…tell me about them? I don't really remember my family."

Kai sat down next to her, "Well um…" He sighed, "I've never met my biological family. They left e on the streets when I was little."

"All I remember from my family is that my mother did magic and that my father was a hunter. I don't even remember what they look like."

"That's still more then what I know… But a woman named Maria looked after me, so to me, she's my madre."

Mickey was confused. "What's a…*madre?" She only knew one language, so all others were foreign to her.

“It means mother in Spanish. See Maria, she wasn’t from here, she was from somewhere else and they speak Spanish.”

"Oh…well, I only known Orian, which I'm guessing is very similar to your language of…English? You know, since I can understand you."

Kai hummed slightly in agreement, "I guess it is, yes. I'll make sure to speak English and not Spanish but sorry if I accidentally do…"
