(Aha! Got a character paragraph done instead XD)
(Alya (Ally) Richards, is 21 and a rather extroverted character. She’s daring and witty most days, but other days she’s solemn and serious. Alya is a super impressionable character, with a heart of gold. She has her standards and her lifestyle she sticks with most of the time. Alya is 5’5’’, weighing 120 pounds, and isn’t the curviest. She’s pretty slim, with small muscle build. Her dark brown, wavy hair reaches mid back, and is most the time braided down her back. Bangs cut across her forehead, right above her green eyes. Her skin is a golden color, but still fairly light. Most days she wears something ‘trendy’ or ‘stylish’. As a hero, she goes by the name “Sparrow”. With excellent agility, and dexterity, she decided on the name Sparrow. (She had considered Robin, but assumed Batman’s partner would have taken offense) Her costume is almost all black, with only subtle hints of indigo blue. Her mask is the same blue color, as it covers a large portion of her face. There is no lense in the mask, so you can still see her bright green eyes. A hood is attached to part of her costume, with an open back so her braid can fall through. She had tall boots, laced up to her knees, without heels to stay quiet. )

(Ooh, yes. I absolutely love her! <3)
(Haha :D Glad to hear that! I went through like seventeen names when I first named her. I believe that is my favorite!)
(Yes, I very much adore this character! <3 Love, love, love her.)
( :) So are we good to basically start from here? Or did we have anything else we needed to do?)
(Unless there's anything particularly that you think we should establish, I think we're good! ^-^)
(Alright, I don't think there is. If I think of anything I might PM you… so we're starting before my girl becomes a hero correct? Just double checking)
(Wherever you would like to start is perfectly fine with me. ^-^ Originally I had assumed that she was already, albeit fairly knew and not as renown as some, but now that you mention it, I think it might be more interesting to backtrack and do it from before she officially took up that title. So actually yes. If you would like to do that, I think that's a good idea!)
(Alright cool! Sorry for the disappearance, today was a little bit of a rough day. I'll get a starter up soon!)
(No worries! Take your time. ^-^)
(I'm so sorry, I had homework and stuff to do, last night…)
The corporate building had been set on fire, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. It had started on the bottom floor, and on the top. People were trapped inside. Thousands of people were screaming, and crying, inside or outside of the building. The authorities had blocked off any entrance into the building.
The sky continued to fill with thick smoke, as the heroes did their best to evacuate the building. But there was only so much three people can do. The leader of the group was after the culprit, and hunting him down as the others helped the citizens.
Alya Richards, though, was still trapped in the elevator. She and her co-worker were trapped together. They had nowhere to go, they were trapped. Though Ally didn't dare make a noise. She wasn't wanting to get caught by a murderer. The doors were just barely opened, but were getting caught on something. Thus, preventing them from opening. "They don't know we're in here." She whispered to the other, watching the heroes flying in and out of the building.
(It's absolutely no problem. ^-^ Don't you worry about it. I understand 1000000%.)
"We're– We're going to die–" Ally's coworker– Dimitri Kline, the mousy young man who had been unfortunate enough to be stranded in the elevator alongside her– admitted frantically, tugging the top of his collared shirt up over his face to protect his lungs from the smoke that seeped into the elevator through the open door. His thin-framed glasses had slid down to the end of his nose, the lens now dirtied from the smoke in the air. His dark eyes were wide, filled with obvious terror that he didn't bother trying to mask. He did not take nearly as much caution in being quiet, coughing and gasping. Perhaps he had not considered that the killer was still on the loose, or maybe he presumed that being killed directly was less terrifying than being burned alive of suffocating. "We are going to die in here," he repeated, his nervous tone rising slightly with each word. He coughed, the bitter smoke having made its way to his mouth despite his best efforts to protect himself from it. "There's no way out. If– if they don't know we're in here– Why, we're going to burn alive!" Tears pricked at his eyes, though whether from the agitation of the smoke or the fear that ran through his veins was unclear.
(Thank you so much for understanding^^)
Ally turned, a bitter look on her face. Trying to muffle the coughing, she kept her mouth shut tightly. Her eyes were sharp, and her voice the same. "Shut up." She growled, poking his chest with her index finger. "You're going to get us killed, if you don't shut up. I've worked too hard to get killed in an elevator, because some idiot decided yelling was the best idea. When a literal murderer is on the loose out there, too!" She spat, falling quiet once more. They had nothing else to do besides wait in silence. Even if it was terribly agonizing. Though his words were getting to her. They could die in here, and clearly the heroes didn't know they were in here. If they wanted to live through this, she needed to figure out how to get them out of here. She didn't expect the worry-wart to help out, so she thought in silence.
'Come on Ally, Think!'
(:3)
Dimitri sank back from her, his dark eyes wide. "Sorry– I'm sorry–" he stammered, though this time much quieter than his previous complaints had been. "But I think I'd rather be murdered than cooked to death–" Though he wasn't proving to be much help, the temperature was definitely rising.
Meanwhile, two heroes continued to search the building, yanking the remaining civilians from danger and depositing them safely on the streets. Police and firemen were present, but the heroes made their jobs easier.
The third hero continued to hunt for the culprit, who had yet to be found.
She didn't want to, but she looked back to him, her ideas fading. "It's fine. But I really don't want to be murdered." Ally said softly, turning back to the doors. "I seriously don't get why they don't check the elevators. There have got to be other people in the other one." She mumbled, slipping her fingers in between the doors, trying to pull it open. 'Come on!' She begged, while she kept yanking on the door.
(Okay so, do you think the hero's death should be like, here, towards the beginning, or after Ally has become her own hero?)
Dimitri watched her, cowering in the corner of the elevator and struggling to breath through the thick smoke that rolled into the small, enclosed space. "This smoke– it's going to suffocate us." He sank down against the wall until he was sitting on the floor. "I'm too young to die," he whined quietly. "I have a wedding in three months–" Tears streamed down his face, and he coughed violently.
(Probably here, because she might not be thinking like that)
Ally gagged, trying not to let her coughing come. "P-please, help me…" She choked, yanking on the door more. Just slightly it opened, and she slid her foot in between the two doors. Though when she loosened her grip, the doors tried to close on her foot. Trying so hard not to scream, she pulled on the door once more. "If you don't want… want to die… help me!" She told him, feeling knots in her throat. Her words were scratchy, and low, she couldn't keep talking, it hurt too bad.
(Yay for death and destruction!)
Dimitri scrambled over to her side and gripped the sharp edges of the door. He pulled with all his might– though, frankly, he was quite frail, and he made little to no progress.
Meanwhile, one of the heroes– Conner was his last name, though he'd never bothered coming up with a real alias or even concealing his identity– had been scouring for the culprit who had bothered trying to burn down the building.
The man he found standing near the flaming structure was not who he expected.
"Verdict?" Conner blanched at the sight of the villain's unmistakable attire– a dark trenchcoat and mask covering the lower half of his face. Conner reassured himself that he had no reason to worry, but he knew what Verdict was famous for. "I thought burning down buildings was beneath someone as powerful as you."
"It generally is." Verdict's voice was altered by a voice-changing device. He clearly took great caution in concealing his identity. "But I needed to get your attention, and I knew this would be the perfect way. Consider it a farewell gift, from me to you." He twisted the mini flame thrower in his hand. "Ah, but there are still people in there. You might want to run and fetch them before we continue further."
"The others will get them. You're under arrest." Conner took several steps closer to Verdict.
"I'm under arrest?" Verdict snorted out a laugh. "How cute. Well, you have death sentence, so I reccomend you save those people first. Make your last act a good one, would you?"
(XDD Me almost never loll)
Ally tried to thank him, but nothing came from her. She nodded her thanks to the other, even if he wasn't doing much. It was better than nothing. Smoke only continued to flood in, causing Ally to get lightheaded. In attempt to keep any more smoke from entering her lungs, she pulled her blouse over her nose. "D-imitri," She half growled, trying not to scare him more. Holding the collar over her face, she only had one hand to hold the doors with. "Sh-irt." She coughed, pointing to his shirt, and then pointing to herself.
(Apologies for being inactive. My laptop is broken, so I haven't been online much. I expect to get a new one soon, and this will no longer be an issue. Also, I have been considering ways for the hero to die, and I wanted to consult your opinion. Would it be more interesting if Ally got to witness the hero's murder?)
Dimitri stifled a cough, too, looking at her with a bit of confusion. He might've had a lot of booksmarts, but he was dreadfully lacking in the area of common sense and street smarts. "Shirt? Oh– you mean…?" He hesitated before tugging his own collar up over his nose and letting out another loud hack of a cough.
Conner narrowed his eyes. "No. If I leave, you'll flee– like the coward you are."
Verdict chuckled darkly. "Oh, I'm not going anywhere. Perhaps you forgot, but I arranged this meeting myself. Now, run along. Save your people. I'll be waiting."
(It's all good! I was totally out Wednesday, so no need to worry!)(And I was thinking that too, having her and Dimitri escape and they run off and hide somewhere else, where they witness the hero's murder)(Or Conner comes and saves them, and tells them to wait, then they witness the rest from there.)
Ally felt her grip slipping off the doors, her fingers cramping. "I-" She coughed more, her throat scratching her like crazy. "Push… same door." She managed to get out, her foot still in between the two metal doors. They were determined to stay closed, but Ally was determined to have them open. "Get ready." She sputtered, ready to jolt forward to open the door.
(Brilliant, my friend! Let's make them run off to hide and witness the end of poor Conner's existence, shall we? ^-^)
Dimitri pushed with all of his might, straining against the door. He coughed and choked on the smoky air, unable to fight the tears that burned in his dark eyes.
By some miracle– or maybe Ally's determination– Dimitri managed to squeeze through the little opening, grunting as he finally came free of the elevator's gasp. A relieved gasp escaped him, followed by another hacking cough.
"You must think I'm stupid if you really believe I'm going to leave you here unattended." Conner stepped forward, his eyes lighting up white as electricity pulsed through his body, his powers channelling through him. "I don't want to kill you, but I'm taking you in one way or another."
"I'm afraid you're incorrect." Verdict calmly tugged at his coat's sleeve. "You won't be taking me anywhere."
(Oh dear, it sounds horrid when you say it that way-)
Once out, Ally felt a huge amount of relief. Even if she stayed stuck, she wouldn't be with him anymore. Forcing herself through the doors, she stumbled to the floor and began gasping for half clean air. Of course she only filled her lungs with more of the smoke. Thus causing her to choke, and cough hard. Holding her throat, she looked to Dimitri, smiling. "Good job." She croaked, forcing herself up off the ground. "Come on, hide." She coughed more, stumbling over to him.
(Yes. Yes it does. I'm a little dark sometimes when it comes to fictional settings. X'D)
"Let's get out of here–" Dimitri rasped, sticking close to her– though whether out of loyalty or fear was unclear. Quite possibly the latter. "I don't know how long we have before–" He was interrupted by a violent cough. "Before the whole building comes down!" His chest ached from the smoke he'd sucked in; his eyes burned. He was quite convinced that, even if he made it out of here alive, he'd keel over just from the amount of smoke he'd taken in.
Conner stepped closer, shooting bolts of electricity in Verdict's direction. They bounced and skittered across the ground, bright things that shot wildly– though, the burst he had fired at Verdict was no where near enough to kill the villain. No, no, no. Conner didn't want him dead; he merely wanted to stun the man.
But the burst of lightning did neither.
Verdict extended an open, gloved hand– which absorbed every bit of the electricity. His hands lit up from the intensity of the light; sparks of electricity crawled up his arms and down his body, yet he was unfazed.
"Wh– How did you–" Conner's eyes widened slightly, but his expression hardened into a glare once again. He was still far from afraid of this man.
Verdict let out an amused hum. "Impressive light show, but highly inefficient."
(Ahah, it's all good lol)
Ally led him along, trying not to walk out in the open for safeties sake. She didn't want to get caught by the wrong person. So through the building she went, Dimitri following. 'Where am I going? We need to get to the stairs…' She directed herself, but her body pulled her towards an open space. "This way." She muttered, catching sight of two other people not incredibly far off. "I see others."
Dimitri tried to hurry along after her, wheezing and coughing from the amount of smoke he'd inhaled. "Oh, thank heaven! Maybe we won't die today." He refused to lose her, because as far as he was concerned, she was probably his only hope of getting out of this place. He clearly wasn't going to get out on his own.
"Verdict, please cooperate. I don't want to kill you," Conner insisted. "I swear you'll get a fair trial. I'll make sure of it."
Verdict flat out laughed. "Fair trial? Oh, you fool. There's nothing fair about the system. The only fair judgements are the ones I make after long and careful consideration, and I'm afraid you've been deemed guilty."
"Guilty?" Conner echoed, electrical sparks rolling off of him again, disappearing into the ground. "Says the man who kills the people who would save others."
"Oh, my friend. You know good and well that neither you nor your comrades save others." Verdict unsheathed a short sword– maybe it should've been considered a dagger?– from his belt, running a gloved finger over the blade. "You know you are monsters. I know you're monsters. I've seen what you all do when you think no one knows. I know. And I know that you're most definitely guilty."
Conner didn't respond. Maybe he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Maybe he was shocked. Either way, that was all Verdict needed. He pressed a button on a cuff attached to his arm– one of his many beautiful devices that he so meticulously crafted– and instantly teleported behind Conner, running the dagger through his back, through his spine.
A scream echoed throughout the surrounding area, and it was Conner's.
Electricity shot more violently from Conner's body as he collapsed, though the current couldn't affect Verdict, who was protected from the blast due to his tech. Conner– alive but in agony– writhed on the ground, attempting to keep himself from going into shock from pain alone. Maybe he was paralyzed? He couldn't tell. All he knew was pain.
"Apologies, Mr. Conner," Verdict said, wiping the blood off on his pants leg. "But this is the final verdict."
Ally brought the wiry man along behind her, knowing it would be inappropriate for him to ditch him. The two could hear them discussing, and clearly this wasn't a normal conversation. Pulling her 'friend' aside, she looked around the corner to watch them converse. "What are they-" And before she could finish her sentence, she felt a scream exit her lips, as she watched her hero get impaled.
Conner screamed the same time she had, so her own was drowned out by the hero's. Tears were already streaming down her face, a hand over her lips. It was one thing to hear the after effects, but this was real. Someone who tried so hard to protect them, was clearly injured beyond repair. Her heart sank in her chest, and she felt herself starting to cry hard. "C-come on, get up." She whispered, watching the hero on the ground.
Dimitri saw it, too, though he looked more petrified than anything– his face blanching noticeably, his eyes round, flooding with tears. He would've screamed had he not been frozen, like a deer caught in headlights. He felt as if he might just collapse, pass out right then and there.
Conner could hardly register what was happening due to the amount of agony he was currently in, but he attempted to push himself back to his knees, anyways. The problem was that he couldn't move normal; everything from his waist down as undoubtedly ruined, and the pain that shot up his spine was no better. The sparks that leaped from his body died down as he lost the strength to keep emitting them.
"You can't– do this," he managed, twisting himself around just enough to glare at his attacker.
"Watch me." Verdict delivered a sharp kick to Conner's ribs, following it by another one to flip the man over onto his back.
Conner bit back another scream, grimacing in anguish.
"If only you had been real, we wouldn't be in this unfortunate position," Verdict murmured, maybe a bit too calmly. "Please know that I never wanted it to come to this, but you left me with no other choice."
Conner was either in too much pain or too hopeless at this point to reply. Either way, it didn't matter, because Verdict ran his blade deep into the man's chest. Conner screamed again, though much weaker than last time. Then he tore it out and did it again. And again. And again. Conner twitched and jerked a few times, before he stilled altogether. The dagger pierced his heart, stopped it. Conner's eyes went wide, and the life faded from them. The color drained from his face, his mouth left agape.
Dimitri fainted, thudding against the ground.
Verdict calmly ripped his weapon from the bloody form and took a glance at his surroundings.
Her heart stopped in her chest.
Ally was in a panic now. She just watched her hero brutally murdered, and now had a second knocked out body to deal with. Tears forced their way into her eyes, and started down her cheeks.
Moving Dimitri out of view, or attempting to at least, she held her breath as she did. 'You need to suck it up, and be a big girl…' She demanded herself, trying not to start sobbing.
Her heart was beating so hard, she was surprised Verdict hadn't heard her. Well he didn't show any signs of knowing she was there.
Not yet at least.
'Come on, you need to wake up.' She begged Dimitri, as if he could read her mind. To her knowledge he couldn't, he was too cowardly to be a hero. Yanking him along, she did her best to bring him through the flames towards a window, though that involved much struggle.
Her head pounded with the flashes of the scene, making her sick. Though she couldn't stop thinking about it. It was the only thing to think about, other than the immediate danger of being caught and murdered the same way.
'You need to get out of here, you know he knows you're here.'
