(Yeah, I made it a little ways out but not too, too much so that it’s not like, ‘Hey I just met you earlier today , but I’ll take you to Europe for your bday.” y’know?)

(Okay then, that's good)

"Like I said before, just curious. Also, mine is in August."

“The school month,” Teya joked. “Did you always start school around your birthday as a kid?”

Yesim chuckled. "Yep."

“So school was like some kind of sick birthday present. Like, Happy Birthday, here’s 10 months of being held against your will in a place you don’t wanna be,” Teya giggled.

Yesim giggled. "I guess you could say that."

“Did you like school?” Teya teased.

"Eh, depends on the subject." Yesim answered.

“Which ones did you like, then?”

"Art, Mandarin, Choir, Social Studies, and ELA."

“You took Mandarin?” Teya was genuinely surprised, and impressed.

"Yea…" Yesim answered.

“How much do you remember?”

"Not much, but I didn't forget everything."

“That’s cool, though. No one learns Mandarin. You’re doing better than me.”

"Well, it was an option at our school, and I know some Spanish too."

“Yeah, I took Spanish for several years. I was actually put in Spanish 2 my freshman year.”

"Everyone is put in Spanish 2 if they don't completely fail, right?"

“Well, geez, I dunno. Most people from my middle school didn’t go into 2. They didn’t take the placement test. But I did. And they put me in 2. And then I took 3, and then I stopped because I wanted to take other classes and I had all my credits.”

Yesim nodded in understanding. "Oh, okay then. That makes sense."

“Did you ever do any clubs or sports?”

"Yea. I actually did a lot in high-school."

“I didn’t do much in high school. I did stuff in middle school, but then I just…didn’t,” Teya got to wondering how long they had been walking, and how much longer they would be walking. Not that she was bored; just curious.

Yesim quickly came to a stop when her house appeared. "Cool, aaand we're here."

“Oh, right,” Teya lingered. “You have a nice place,” she commented.

"Oh, thanks." Yesim replied. "Is your home far from here or no?"

“Um, no. No. I’ll be fine,” she said. “I’ll…talk to you later, yeah?”

"Right-yea-um-sure." She replied. Right, yea, sure? What is wrong with you?

Teya smiled, waving goodbye and slowly backing away.

Yesim smiled back, also waving goodbye.
