Althea blinked, the question drawing her thoughts away from how undeniably attractive the woman was. Her cheeks flushed as she pieced together a baffled answer. “A flight of… steps? Out here?”

Adestria rubbed her cheek idly, trying and distracting herself. “Okay. Um… so no?” She smiled a little. “And yea, a flight of steps. Brilliant, right?”

Althea tilted her head, confused but more than happy to stare at the beauty before her. “Yes, I— I suppose. Who are you?”

Adestria’s smile got wider and she shrugged. “I am just a passing soul. That is all. Who are you?”

A passing soul. Ha. This woman, with her otherworldly beauty and the glow about her was definitely not a passing soul. “A sea nymph,” she said shyly. “Althea.”

Adestria bowed her head in greeting, raising her hand. “Hello, my dear. I am Adestria.” She straightened up again, beaming.

The name rang a bell… Althea frowned in thought. “Have we met before?” Their dazzling smile was not lost on the nymph, her blush visibly deepened.

Adestria tilted her head, humming in thought. “I’m not sure. Prolly.”

“I just recognize your name.. are you known for anything?” It was a marvel that Althea wasn’t stuttering, despite her evident shyness and blush.

“Hm…” Adestria laughed softly, shrugging. “I am not sure any more, honestly.”

Althe frowned slight at the answer she had been given, it wasn’t really an answer at all. “Oh. Are you— are you in a rush? Right now, I mean?”

Adestria leaned back on her heels, humming and looking around. “I am not. I’m just walking around.”

Althea slipped off the rock into the glittering ocean, her face growing redder by the second. “Oh. Would you—“

Adestria watched her slip away. She panicked internally and interrupted her, “Where are you going?”

Althea blinked up at her, slightly baffled by the woman’s panic. “No— Nowhere, just into the water.”

“Oh.” Adestria smiled a little. “Right. Sorry. What were you saying?”

By now, the woman’s glittering eyes had completely cleared Althea’s head of whatever she’d been saying. “I— uh— don’t remember.”

Adestria blinked a couple times and looked around, trying not to stare at the beautiful nymph.
“Well… um… what’s your name?”

Althea swallowed, mentally berating herself to get her non-existent act together. "I'm Althea. "

Adestria smiled a little and bowed slightly. “Hi Althea. I’m Adrestria.”

"You said that already," she pointed out before clamping her mouth shut. "I'm sorry– that was rude of me–@

“O-oh. I’m sorry! I tend to forget things. It’s okay.” She smiled. “I’ve delt with much ruder.”

Unsure how to reply, Althea sank beneath the waves until only the top half of her face was above the water– she couldn't have this stranger see her prominent blush.

Adestria watched her sink again. “So— um… did you have to go?” She floated up from the sea, somewhat nervous.

Althea realized that she actually had to rise above the waves in order to speak, and did so with a nervous smile. "No, I was just getting a bit hot, I guess. Sorry."

Adrestria smiled faintly in response, nodding hastily. “Of course. It is getting pretty hot, don't you think?”
