"I'll figure something out." He snapped, glaring at Tohru. "Besides, whose fault is it that I'm like this?"

"Ultimately yours. You've been dodging the Rebellion for years. And for what? There's a reason I was told I could use any force necessary, as long as I didn't kill or maim you. In fact, I'd say you're pretty lucky you didn't have someone more aggressive come after you," Tohru spat, crossing his arms.
"Well, anyway. I'm not uncuffing you."
"I've been avoiding them for a godsdamn reason!" He snapped. Golden skies and death and "daddy, what's wrong?". He swallowed hard.
group
"And what reason is that? Is it a good enough reason to be on the run for years? Gods, that has to be such a hard life to live. Such a lonely one," Tohru sighed, "I commend you for running this long, but it had to end at some point. Wouldn't you at least prefer them to the Empire? Sometimes… sometimes we do have to pick the lesser of two evils."
"Yeah? Rebellion uses me as a figurehead to restart a war that only ends in death. Empire wants to make an example out of me. Either way, I die." he glared at Tohru.
group
“Really?” Tohru whispered, “You think they’d just let you die like that?”
There was more surprise in his voice than anything else, which rose the pitch of his words.
"They let the rest of my world die." he replied with a shrug. "Where were they when my family was dying? Where were they when everyone else was dying?"
group
“They may not have been able to stop it. I admit I was only a child when it happened, so I can’t know fully, but…” Tohru trailed off.
What if he was right?
Davin shifted, and winced slightly. "No, you can't." His voice was cold. "You have no idea what it was like."
group
“I don’t…“ he admitted.
He paced the floor for a minute.
“So… do you have other reasons for hating the rebellion? Because you know, I thought they were supposed to be a force for good. I’m not technically affiliated with them, just a bounty hunter. So um… I do admit I don’t know as much as you do in that regard.”
He let out a huff. "They want me because I'm a symbol. Not because I can actually contribute anything worthwhile."
group
"Will that not keep you safer?"
Tohru stopped dead.
"I wasn't joking when I said it was easy for me to find you. That's all concerning. Are you going to be okay? I can always just let you go, lie… say that I couldn't get you, but…"
His mind was racing yet again.
He snorted a little bit. "Of course it was easy to find me. I'm the only goddamn Kaythani left." he closed his eyes, shaking his head a little bit.
group
"But if that's the case, why don't you join? If you're just a symbol, you won't get thrown into the fray, no matter how little they care for you. At least, I don't think… Dude, what are you going to do after this?" Tohru continued.
"I'll move on. Next planet, next station." he replied, wincing in pain. "And I don't want to join. It's a hopeless exercise that they can't win."
group
"How long can you keep that up?" Tohru asked, his tone growing much darker and sadder, "It must be miserable, on top of dangerous."
He took a key from his pocket, biting his lip.
"Why am I doing this?" he muttered, "Why can't I just capture him and take the damn money…?"
He shrugged. "It's not that bad." He replied calmly, shaking his head slightly. "But…I don't know." He ran a hand through his hair, sighing softly.
group
"So what do you want me to do? Just let you go?" Tohru sighed, "I'm quite conflicted, if I'm being honest."
(not gonna be on tonight, sorry)
He snorted. "I'd love it if you would, but…I know you won't." he replied, shaking his head a little bit.
group
(It's all good)
"To be fair, I don't even know whether I'll let you go or not," Tohru admitted, "What if I did? What would happen to both of us then, hm?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know." he replied honestly. "I'd go. Next planet, wherever. I don't know what would happen to you."
group
Tohru shook his head.
"You seem awfully confident there. Sadly, I don't think it's that simple. And it's definitely not that simple for me. In fact, I'd be lucky if they killed me. They take betrayal very seriously."
He glanced over at Tohru, letting out a sigh. "Godsdamnit." He muttered. "That's…sorry."
group
“Yeah, so while the money is tempting, the real reason I’m considering turning you in is the consequences,” Tohru admitted, “I’m not sure if you’re calling me sorry or them sorry, but either way, this whole thing is pretty fucked.”
He let out a soft breath. He let out a litany of Kaythani words, most of which were curse words. "So basically, unless I come with you, you die."
group
“I’d bet on it, yeah,” Tohru replied.
He turned around and closed his eyes. “Also, I lied to you about my name. Sort of. It’s Tohru. Sorry.”
He let out a faint sound that was half laugh, half breath. "Ugh. Alright." he ran a hand through his hair, wincing when he moved.
group
“If I unlocked those cuffs right now, would you bolt?” Tohru asked, “I don’t want to keep you like this, but… I think we need to figure things out before we part ways.”
He shrugged a little bit, his hands dropping back down to his sides. "I….I don't know." he replied honestly. "I…"
group
Tohru paced a bit, frustrated and confused. Then he twirled the key in his hand and walked towards Davin.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” he murmured.
