(Love her! Ready to start?)
(Yeah)
Laura sat on a bench near the edge of a park, listening to music through her headphones and sweetly enjoyed being ignored. Not that she was complaining. She liked not being seen.
Stella exited her house, ready to take a walk in the park. It was close, only a block away. When she arrived there, she watched the children play in the playground with their mothers keeping watch. She turned and started on the on the three mile trail, Stella passed a girl sitting on a bench and gave her a small smile, before continuing.
Laura gave a weak smile in return and looked back at her notebook that was resting her lap. Coming here for inspiration was a bad idea. There's nothing here. Her eyes flickered up to the girl that had smiled at her as she walked away. Well… almost nothing.
Stella continued down the path, stepping out of the way and apologizing multiple times to people who ran past her and other children playing.
Laura found herself watching the girl as she kept walking. Damn you, Laura… Slowly, she looked away and began to write.
Eventually Stella came back around again, she wanted to sit down and she was cleaning her glasses so she could barely see. She sat down on the opposite side of the bench that Laura was on and continued cleaning her glasses, unaware that Laura was there.
Laura glanced up from her work and was a bit startled to see the same girl from earlier. She didn't say anything though. She'd probably just end up embarrassing herself like always. Even though it was a warmer summer day, Laura wore a filmy black hoodie and black jean shorts.
Stella put her glasses back on and looked over to see the girl she had smiled at earlier, “Oh! Hello, ma’am. I hope you don’t mind me sitting here…”
"Oh, um, i-it's fine," Laura said quietly. It might as well have been a whisper. "And, uh, you d-don't have to, um, call me ma'am."
“O-oh!” Stella looked embarrassed, “Sorry, is there something else I can call you?”
Mine maybe? She thought then quickly shook the thought away
"I-It's fine. Just call me Laura," she said shyly.
“Nice to meet you, Laura,” Stella smiled and held out her hand for her to shake, “I’m Stella.”
Laura slowly reached out and shook the girl's hand weakly. It's not like you're that impressive… she hardly even noticed you at first. You don't even have a chance. Damn you, Laura… Before she could stop herself, she spoke up again quietly, "Stella is a pretty n-name."
“Thank you! I like your name as well.” Stella smiled and sighed, “Sorry that I didn’t notice you before I sat on the bench, I was cleaning my glasses and I can’t really see anything without them on.”
"It's fine, I… I'm used to people not really, um, seeing me," she replied, tapping her pen on her leg.
