Brainwashed (O/O) Closed

His eyes widened. She knew. "Yes.", he replied, sad at the memory.

"Sorry," she said again, looking away.

"It's fine. I have you." He looked into her eyes. What was she feeling?

She looked back over at him. "What do you mean?"

"You'll figure it out.", he said confidently.

She closed her eyes and looked frustrated, trying to remember.

He tell tell she was trying to remember and looked over at the doctor to see what she had to say.

Dr. Vegran was shaking her head. "Alright, come on, August," she said softly. "Kate, open your eyes."
Slowly, her eyes opened.
"Good, now why don't you talk with Miss Sammy for a while?" She tapped August's shoulder and motioned for him to follow her outside.

He followed. At least there was progress.

Dr. Vegran shut the door behind her. "Sorry to take you away, that's the most progress she's had in days… It just seemed she was straining a little too hard to remember."

There were tears in his eyes. "It's fine."

"You're more than welcome to come back tomorrow, I promise. Let the memories from today sink in. We'll refresh them tomorrow and add more," she promised him.

"Thank you.", he said as he walked out. I'm tired of waiting.

The next day, Dr. Vegran waited outside Kate's door for August.

He hung his head in his hands to cover up the bruises. He was worried that they would alarm Kate. "Hello."

"August?" Dr. Vegran looked worried as he approached. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine… didn't sleep well." Didn't sleep at all.

She examined him. "Are you sure you're alright?" she asked softly. "You can come back tomorrow if you're not feeling well."

"It's fine." He said as he put his hood over his head. He looked up.

"And you still want to see her?" she asked gently.

"Yes! Very much!", he exclaims. Please don't ask about the bruises.

Her lips pressed together, like she wanted to say something but decided not to. "Alright, try not to strain her too much. Briefly review from yesterday, then try and add more if you can. You know the drill by now." Her eyes smiled tiredly at him.

He walked in. "How are you feeling today?", he asked Kate.

Kate looked up when he entered. She was sitting in a grey chair, her hands folded in her lap. She'd been staring at her hands. "I'm feeling well," she said. Her voice was edged hard.

"Good. Remember what we talked about yesterday?" He sat down in a chair.

"I think. Your name is August." The more the talked to him, the more her voice became lighter.

"Yes.", he nodded. "Do you remember what pets I have?"

"Cats… Two," she answered slowly.
