"Wait no I don't mean-ugh. I volunteer in the children's ward at the hospital." He pointed to the friendship bracelets on his wrists. "Those kids."
Broken // One-On-One // CLOSED
"Oh that's so sweet," Trini smiled, kissing him on the cheek. "At least Athena likes you. She never liked Matthew. Maybe that was a bit of a giveaway."
"They do say dogs, and pets in general, are good judges of character." He said, petting Athena happily.
"They do, don't they. Maybe that's why she likes you so much."
"Maybe. You really think I'm that great?"
"Of course I do. For one thing, you saved me from my rapist. For another-" Trini was interrupted by her doorbell ringing.
(if you have Noah open it, it's a small Latina girl)
"I'll get it." Noah stood, carefully moving Athena, and waked to the door. Opening it, he was slightly surprised to see a young girl. "Hello?"
The girl was sobbing almost uncontrollably. Trini got up, recognizing that the girl was Latina. She looked to be around 6 or 7. "Por favor, ayúdame. Mis padres acaban de ser asesinados y no tengo a dónde ir. Por favor, ayúdame," The girl sobbed.
"Trini, what-" He only understood bits of Spanish, the same amount one picks up from day to day things.
"¿Cuál es tu nombre?" Trini asked, slighting ignoring Noah.
"Mi nombre es Elena Gómez."
"Hola Elena. Mi nombre es Trini y este es Noah. ¿Quieres entrar?" Elena nodded. Trini led her to the couch to sit down, and Athena helped her calm down. "Noah, call the cops. She says her parents were just murdered."
"Got it." He pulled out his phone and dialed, quickly giving the cops a run down.
((im beat bro, see ya in the mornin
(k byeeeeeee!)
Trini sat down with Elena. "¿Estás bien, Elena? ¿Estás herido?" She asked.
"Estoy bien. No estoy herido Tienes un perro muy lindo. ¿Cuál es su nombre?" Elena replied. He face was tear stained but she was no longer crying.
"Esta es Atenea. Pienso que le gustas. Mira cómo menea su cola."
"The police are on their way."
Trini nodded, then picked up her phone to call someone. "Gwen, soy yo. Necesito hablarte de algo. ¿Estás libre?"
Noah didn't move from where he was standing at the door. He couldn't risk the possibility that it was a scam.
Trini moved out onto the balcony and closed the door. The glass was thick so she couldn't be heard.
He watched her leave and turned to Elena, using a phrase he had taught himself to try and help communication with upset children. "Habla usted Inglés?"
"Yo no hablo ingles Solo español. Es mi lengua materna," Elena replied, still playing with Athena.
He nodded and turned his attention back to Trini. Trouble just loves us, doesn't it.
"Eres muy guapo. ¿Eres amable también?"
"Uuhh…" He thought, wracking his brain for the translations and nodded slowly.
Trini walked back inside, visibly stressed.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Don't worry about it. Let's just wait for the cops to get here."
Noah raised an eyebrow, but didn't push it, just nodding. He would ask her again later, definitely.
The door bell rang, and Trini got up to answer it. She let the officers inside.
He made his way over, next to Trini, and stood next to her as the officers did their thing.
(i just realized how weird that sentence is
"Is it alright if we ask her a few questions, Miss…?"
"Bell. Trinity Bell. Her name is Elena. She doesn't speak English. Only Spanish."
Noah crossed his arms as he watched, not much help at this moment. I really should take a class online or something to learn Spanish.
