Chasing the sunset O×O (CLOSED)

Decades ago living on the surface was safe but after the accident, nothing was the same.
Mutants took over the land above. Plagues killed thousands, the oceans dried up, the world was in chaos. Untill a brilliant idea came to light. What if the human race moved below ground? After many what if's, it was decided.
A lottery decided who would go to these under ground city's, decided who would live. Who would stay above on the surface and surcome to the now unlivable world.

Now many many years later two people hear of a sunset. The way it is described is simply impossible to believe. So impossible to believe that they decide to to find the surface, so they might lay their eyes on this sunset. 

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THIS STRANGE IDEA THINGY! I don't know if this is 100% original, but if it is that'd be pretty cool.
Character templates are not important. Considering these children have actually never seen the sun, I expect them to be freaking ghosts.
We're talking light blue eyes, pale as snow skin, blond to white hair. The whole shabang.
Melatonin who??? never heard of her. (Fun fact, people with blue eyes are a product of the sun hating people in Europe.)
But if you want a temp I'd be totally good with setting one up.

(Lol. Alrighty. So I have no idea how to start per say- but I have an idea. First I need to know if you want this to be romance or not?)

(Sure thing! I'm thinking maybe 18-23. That way the age gap isn't to big, and they're not practically children.)

(Sounds good! One last question then I think I should be question free, are our characters already going to know each other or are they going to just meet for the first time during this?)

(I think it would make things easier if they already know each other. But the level of how well they know each other is totally up to you.)

(Ok, maybe they're friends that are on the verge of being best friends? Somewhere in that range. With that I think I'm ready to start!)

The lights above flickered. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still it was bothersome. Blair ran a finger over the spines of the library books.
Of course over the years many where damaged, or lost. The only ones that always had new copies where school books. Not that Blair had need for school books, but she liked to keep her math up.
Her finger stopped on a rather old looking book. Its title was faded, the pages would most like be damaged- that didn't stop her from easing it out of its spot.
Flipping through a few pages confirmed that the pages where damaged, most words where smudged or missing altogether. Sunset, the word caught her eye- Blair had heard of the sun, but never of a sunset.

Noah had looked everywhere for Blair. He had roamed through the city, looking everywhere he could possibly think she could be beside…the library. Easily she could be there. He rolled his ice-blue eyes at forgetting the library, then started there as quickly as he could. He had to tell her the story his great grandmother had just told him before he forgot a single detail.
It was the type of story she would like. Or at least he hoped it was as he wore out his ratty shoes even more with his walking towards the library and hopefully his friend.

Blair placed the book back on the shelf. Regardless of the word catching her eye, to many of the pages where damaged. Not to mention she didn't have time to stay.
Blair took one last look at the book. She'd have to swing by an elderly home and ask what the word could have possibly meant.
Down here the sun didn't exist, very few still held hope to ever see it, but Blair hoped to one day.
According to the government the surface was still unsafe, and probably never would be.
Blair tucked her almost white her behind an ear. Of course it didn't stay there long, and quickly went back to tickling her face. She'd have to get a haircut soon.

"Blair, are you in here?" Noah called quietly once he reached the library, earning a stern look from the librarian as he started to search for her. Already he was forgetting details of the story, but he was determined to find her and relay the story before he forgot it completely.

The lights flickered above him as they normally did, only adding to the almost strange silence that seemed to hang in the air. It always felt weird in the library to him. Like nothin in the building was alive anymore, even the people sometimes. He just assumed it was a side effect of living where and when they did though. Besides the occasional person, nothing ever felt alive. Not like the stories he had been told of the world above them. Before it had been deemed unsafe to live in.

Blair peeked around a bookshelf at Noah, a grin on her face. "Hey stranger." She said in a chipper voice. Being in a hurry didn't mean she couldn't at least chat wit. A friend for a bit first. She waved him over as she put a few more books back on the shelf.
Because so many of the books where damaged checking more then three (3) out at a time wasn't aloud. And she had quite a few more then just three (3) on the table.

The Librarian craned her neck to see Blair, her eyes widening in surprise as if she hadn't known someone was in the library. These days books almost seemed useless. Especially the ones of things from before. No one wanted to learn about everything they'd never see.

He grinned right back at Blair once he spotted her, wasting no time as he walked over and watched her put her books back on the shelf. "I thought I could find you in here," Noah started, picking up one of her books carefully as he studied the cover, "My great-grandma just told me this story she had heard from someone further back in my family and I thought you might want to hear it. It's about life above the ground." The excitement on his face was clear as he flipped open the cover of the book, trying his best to remember every detail from the story, "I'll wait until you're finished with this before I tell you though."

"Before?" Blair couldn't hide the excitement that jumped to her face. She hurried with putting the last few books away, taking good care to put them back in their respectful places.
It wasn't like the librarian really took care of the older books anyway, only the mandatory ones the government pumped out for schools.
"Done," she declared after a few moments, "tell me all about it." She looked like an excited child. Stories about the land above always did that to her.

"As you wish, ma'am," Noah replied, taking a seat on the edge of the table and starting to recall the tale he had been told. "My great-grandma's grandpa had a brother named Zach that their family spent a lot of time with when she was a child, and he always used to tell her and her sister stories of life from above ground. He had explored a lot of Earth when he could, and he told her about a story of a city from one of the old countries, though this wasn't just any city, it was considered 'the sinking city' because even before everything went downhill, this city literally sank into the ground further each year." He paused as he looked for Blair's reaction, tapping his fingers on his leg to hide his excitement.

"A sinking city," Balir raised an eyebrow, "impossible." There had been so many stories of the land about that had ended up being fake. Like giraffes.
"You really expect me to believe such a thing? I went to school, remember? The land doesn't sink." She gave a small ' know it all' smile.

"It's true, my great-grandma said the city was built on something called a swamp, or something similar. And so the buildings sunk into the ground because of how muddy it was." He seemed proud to know this, and like a small child, had a confident smile on his face, "They also used boats to get around, which she said floated on water." Even to him, the story seemed slightly made up, but he didn't care, any story from the above-ground could be true. No matter how old his great-grandma was, or how bad her memory was.

"I'll believe it when I see it," Blair grinned. She knew she'd never see the surface world. She didn't even know if anyone would ever see it, it was destroyed. Unlivable. At least that's what she'd been told.
"Crap," Blair looked at the clock on the far wall her smile fading. "I'm late for a job interview. I'll see you later!" Her growing volume earned a harsh "hush" from the librarian.
But Blair was to busy grabbing her things and speed walking out the door to notice.

Noah laughed and shrugged, "I figured you'd say that." He waved lightly as she made her quick exit, calling out, even as the librarian glared at him, "See you later, don't do anything stupid and good luck!" He sat against the table that they had been at for a minute longer before eventually making his own way out of the library, towards the textile production center where he worked. It didn't pay well, and really wasn't a fun job, but it was something to do with his days, and it kept his ever busy hands moving.

Blair hated the job interview. For the most part it went smoothly, and she was even told she'd be a perfect canadit. But it was just not her thing.
One look at the pipes and switches had her regretting even coming. Even the desk that would be hers seemed over whelming.
A old telephone sat on the far corner, and stacks of paper piled high all over the desk. Blair cringed.
Originally she'd thought being the one to receive all the calls for when lights stopped working in different sectors would be fun. Quiet even.
(Sorry that there's not to much charter interaction yet. I promise it'll happen when things get a bit more intense. 💀)

Within few minutes of Blair dashing off for her interview, he was working, listening to the older workers talk away and occasionally eavesdropping on the younger worker's conversations, eager to listen and hear any stories, old or new. He didn't offer any of his own though. Any that he had were kept private, only for his grandmother, Blair and the old man that lived next to his grandmother and him, but that didn't bother him. He was content with just listening and keeping himself busy, earning money as well.
