Fine, I'll give you five more minutes…. He thought contently, but flushed when he felt her hand in his hair. Oh, I bet she still thinks I'm a wolf, doesn't she…? Miles finally closed his eyes again to drift off into a light, napping sleep.
Cloak and Dagger (O/O)
She shivered and pulled closer to him, grateful for his body heat. After five more minutes of sleep she rolled onto her back, slowly waking up.
Miles was still asleep when she was waking up, but he didn't wake when she rolled over. …Just five more minutes…..
She yawned and pressed her eyes shut tighter before slowly opening them, jumping when she saw Miles back in his human form. She sighed and rubbed her eyes, reminding herself that he said he might be human by morning.
Miles felt Emmeline shift around and he sat up. He let out a small chuckle. "What? Are you surprised to see me as a human as you were when you saw me outside the window as a werewolf for the first time?"
"I forgot that you said you might be human by morning and it scared me.." She said, blushing slightly as she woke up, "It's too early and I'm too tired to remember facts like that."
Miles sat up more. "Right…" He stood up and stretched a little, flexing his muscles before taking in a deep breath of fresh air. "Are you ready to head out? Or do you need five more minutes?" He smirked.
Emmeline shrugged and sat up as well, "I'm ready to go whenever." She started humming again softly before laying back down and looking at the sky, rubbing her eyes as her stomach growled.
Miles turned back and stared down at her. "Well, it sure seems like you're totally pumped… Maybe it'd be best to just chill for a while…" He sat back down next to her. "I mean… My leg is all better, so we aren't in a total hurry or anything…"
She nodded softly, "Alright, though we have to remember that the hunters might still be looking for you." She sat up and looked at him leg, "Is the wound still open?" She asked, "Because the bandages seem quite loose."
"Naw," He said, shaking his head. "The wound must be all healed. Or I'd still be a wolf." Miles unwrapped everything and put his cloak back on, then wrapping it up in the blanket he slept in. "….If that makes sense."
She nodded, "That makes sense," Emmeline stood up and sighed, stretching her arms and legs as she wondered what their plan for the day was going to be. "Do you know how much further we have to go until we reach another village?"
"I'm just as clueless on that as you are," He muttered. "I have no idea where we are going… I just need to get away…" Miles ran a nervous hand through his hair. "From hunters…"
"It's alright Miles, we'll get away from them and we'll find a village." She smiled softly at him, picking up the bundle of stuff along with her now dry clothes and putting them into the bundle, "Do you want to leave right now?"
He tilted his head slowly and frowned. "Not right now…. Maybe a little later. I mean we do have to eat…"
Emmeline set the bundle back down and nodded, "Food does sound good right now.."
“Oh for sure….” Miles greedily unwrapped the bundle and took the last piece of meat she got for him and took the paper off. He was about to dig right in when he hesitated a moment before. “Yikes….” He said deeply. “How keen are you on starting a fire?” One bite and I could’ve been as good as poisoned…
She chuckled and watched him almost bite into the meat, "I can try to start a fire, you don't need to be sick." She immediately started wandering around, picking up sticks and twigs for the fire, "Can you check if there's anything that we could use to start a fire in the bag?"
"Ermmm….. Sure…." And what makes you think it's funny for me to get sick??? Miles growled, setting the meat back in the clean paper. He shuffled through the bag. "Let's see….. I don't think I ever had matches… Did you buy some at the store or something?"
"No, I didn't," She said, walking back over to him with a small pile of sticks in her arms. She dropped them on the ground and sat down beside them, starting to make a neat pile for the fire, "I'm not the best at starting fires," She looked around for something that they could use to start a fire as she talked.
Miles stood up and scuffed his shoe around in the dirt for stones and things. "I think you can just rub two sticks together really fast…. if you can, that is." I would chip rocks together but I don't think they'll do any good….
Emmeline nodded, grabbing two decently sized sticks and rubbed them together as fast as she could, waiting to see if anything was happening.
Miles sat down near the fire and watched her, just staring at her. I wonder if she's actually gonna be able to do it…
"Is there any dry grass or leaves around?" She asked, taking a break from trying to start a fire, "I think there needs to be something like that here so it can catch on fire."
"You mean tinder?" He corrected, letting out a laugh. "Just joking…. I'm sure I can find some…" He heaved himself up and scoped around. He unrooted a fistful of dry grass from the outside of the path and brought it back. "Is this enough?…." I doubt it…
She looked at the clump and nodded, "That should work, I think, but could you get a little more just to be safe?" She reached over and took the grass from him, smiling as she sat back and tried rubbing the sticks together again over the grass.
Miles rolled his eyes and went back off, pulling out two handfuls of the grass and coming back quickly. "Is this enough?" He asked, handing it to her. "Maybe I should try rubbing the sticks…." I am stronger after all… And I can sustain the speed….
"You can try if you want." She said, taking the grass and laying it down on top of the other clump before offering the sticks to him, "It's harder than it looks."
Miles grabbed the sticks and sat himself down. "Alright…. If you say so…" He began to rub them together fast and vigorously, getting a small smoke within the first five minutes. Damn this is pretty hard…
She leaned back and watched him, humming softly as she studied him. It was still quite weird seeing him as a human after so long as a werewolf, but she liked it. Emmeline realized she was staring at him and she looked away, focusing on the fact that he had already gotten smoke when she hadn't.
